This weekend was one of those weekends where there were a million pictures taken. Well, not a million, but 235 to be exact. Before I downloaded them, I had it whittled down to 130. I’m pretty proud of myself that I managed to get the 130 down to only 25 for here. I’ll bet you appreciate that too!
You’re outta luck if you take off your shoes around Madeline because she’ll snap them up quicker than you can blink an eye. Nick took off his flip-flops at some point and they found their way to her feet. I’m always amazed at how well she can walk in shoes that are easily twice the size of her feet. Nothing slows this child down.
We didn’t have all our normal beach gear with us, but this is Nick’s first official sandcastle of the season.
Poor baby. We went to a few garage sales on Saturday and there is one drawback to the combination of a little girl who moves too fast and a little girl who has been wearing dresses lately. Skinned knees. Two different falls within minutes of each other, but she was quite the trooper. One of the sales was being run by a group of older flight attendants. Madeline went right up to them and showed them her knees, and the ladies gathered around her, offering her water and band-aids. Then they went digging in this giant box of purses to find her the “perfect” one, and filled it with two brand-new Disney stuffed animals. She was in her utter glory.
Pure silliness.
This leopard gave new meaning to the term “caged animal.” We watched for about fifteen minutes as he made the same circle through the bushes, over and over and over again.
Madeline was fascinated by the leopard and took it upon herself to stand up on her stroller for a closer look.

Fun in the sun. Horseback riding. And a zoo. Plus two new stuffed animals and a purse. Sounds like a great weekend.
LOVE that flowered dress up top. Where’d ya get it? And oooh, that zoo looks great. Is it by the shore?
Poor baby girl knees. Lainey’s looks very similar. :(
Love the heart dress!
Joanne – indeed! The kids definitely had a blast.
Sarah – The dress is from Target, this season. That was Turtleback Zoo in West Orange (about 20 minutes away). We were going to go to the one down the shore, but would have been on the way home, with Eli, so not didn’t work logistically.
Casey – She succumbed to a band-aid today for the worst knee, but nothing stops her. Poor little girls. :(
Hey Cate,
Good pictures, love seeing and hearning what ya’ll did for the weekend.
Saw the infomercial for Zumba. Do you think it’s worth ordering the videos?
Ramona
Looks like you had a busy and fun weekend! My brother sucked the same two fingers that Madeline is sucking. :-)
Picture #4 is the first time I’ve seen a real resemblance between the two of them!
I’ve been a bit MIA but both your dog and the ex have been in my thoughts lately. Hope they are both doing ok.
Your weekend looks like it was a lot of fun and relaxing. Sometimes I wish I lived closer to the beach. Looks incredibly peaceful.
Love all of the pictures! The ones of Madeline in that dress on the dock…so pretty! And then the two of them on the dock! There’s such great color in the pictures! Sounds and looks like a great weekend!
i love the picture of him holding her by the rails!
