Doing this weekend’s photo review a little differently… have to make my Project 365 deadline!

What every good Catholic girl wears to school. Right? Well, only after she goes pilfering in her brother’s room.
Every time I pick up Madeline from school, she runs into one of the classrooms to play teacher. To the point that she won’t respond until I call her “teacher.” “Teacher, it’s time to go.” No. “I think teachers are good listeners, especially to their mommies.” I’m not going. I don’t want to. And so it goes.
When I saw my Mom on Friday, she asked what naughty thing Madeline had managed to do. It was still early then, the day still young, and full of possibilities for trouble to get into. I should give her an alphabetized list.
Nick felt the cupcakes Madeline and I made needed sprucing up, and then was quite indignant that I didn’t jump up to take a picture. I may have created a monster.
This is what my dining room table looked like at 8 pm Friday night, knee-deep in a few Christmas projects.
I put these together for a friend of mine. One is filled with all sorts of chocolate. The other “to counteract the chocolate emergency” is filled with granola bars, nuts, and trail mix.
Christmas cards done and mailed – whoo hoo!

Craft Project Number 2, and my dining room table at 10 am Saturday morning, right before a friend called to squire me away for 90 minutes of Zumba.
My bed at 8 pm Saturday night. Every year, for as long as I can remember, I have stayed up by myself until the wee hours of Christmas morning, feverishly wrapping presents. Since I didn’t have the kids this weekend, I took advantage of it, and wrapped everything. Feels so good!
The kids always open one gift on Christmas Eve … pajamas. Love these fruit loop ones I found for Madeline.
I wanted to get Madeline a crown, and was all set to get one of those silver plastic ones you usually see, until I found this one. Love it.
I am wondering if it’s a little vain for Santa to be wrapping presents with his picture plastered all over it, but I guess if anyone can get away with it, it’s him. And Santa, of course, has to use different paper than I do. I almost blew it when I was reviewing some pictures on my camera, and Nick was peering over my shoulder. Luckily I pulled it away just in time.

Sunday breakfast.
Madeline’s room, a work in progress. The walls are a similar color to a shade I had in two of the four master bedrooms I have had. Love it. It’s a completely different color several times during the day, depending on how the outside light hits it. Such a happy space, perfect for my happy girl.
And Nick’s room, another happy color, and another work in progress.
My bed, Sunday 1 pm. Ahh, much better.
“I’m waiting for Santa, Mommy.”
A friend is starting a new job tomorrow, so I made her a little care package of healthy snacks to stuff in her desk drawer.
Sunday night’s dinner, along with New England Clam Chowder. Sandwich was a new recipe, but nothing noteworthy.

My kids do the same thing about taking pictures of their “crafts”. Hope you have a Merry Christmas Cate!
Can I just say that your weekend photo review posts always make me smile? Love them! Today my faves are the fruit loop pajamas & Nick’s cupcake “upgrade”. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
I love that chocolate and the granola “care packages”! Such a cute idea! I might have to steal it :P
My parents spent many a Christmas Eve night wrapping presents. Until my brother and I became teenagers. Then WE spent many a Christmas Eve night wrapping presents when my parents were too…tipsy/tired…from Christmas Eve parties to remember to do it haha.
Those gifts for your friends are practical and a good idea!
I love all the cubbies and cut outs in your house. Precious! Well done with the paint, too.
Great post. Love the thing on making it a good day. In fact, I copied a part of your post — hey everyone needs a reminder.
Really like your bedding — your bed is so pretty. I love the look of dfferent solids/textures on a bed. Is the brown and white all one item? Yes, can you tell, I’m in the mood for new bedding. I’m so tired of mine and I’d like to have something to change during the year.
I can tell you’re a great mom — teaching them what’s important, having traditions etc. Way to go.
Betsy – thanks, you’re very sweet. Yes, the brown and white pieces are separate. The brown is a reversible quilted thin comforter that I got from Target (their Home brand), and the white is a quilted blanket my Mom found online for my birthday. The European pillow shams are from Pottery Barn.
Casey – thanks! The cut-outs are definitely a little bit of a challenge in the kids’ rooms, but definitely give it a bit of character.
Thanks, Ramona!
Joanne – ahh, so the key is to wait until the kids are old enough to do all the wrapping for me. Perfect!
Merry – aw, thanks! Love those pjs!
Jesse – he makes me feel so guilty!
