Christmas Eve and Day in Review

Posted by Cate under Holidays and More

Christmas Eve:

Although I mostly stuck to tried-and-true recipes, this one was a new one and a disappointment. With an expensive ingredient like lobster, you want it to wow you, and this Lobster Salad just didn’t cut it.

A new recipe that my sister brought, these Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs were less creamy than traditional deviled eggs, but no less delicious.

I put a bunch of snowman comics around the table for entertainment. Love Calvin and Hobbes.

Christmas Day:

Baby Sophie’s First Christmas

Nicholas’ request for the holiday feast was ham sandwiches. Simple and perfect.

Brownie Trifle

Day After:

Sometimes it’s incredibly hard to take them seriously.

Everything looks so beautiful! Your centerpiece is so festive… what’s in it - hollyberries?

Also, that brownie trifle looks decadent… is the recipe already somewhere in your blog?

Thanks, Patsy! I had a picture in my mind’s eye of what I wanted the centerpieces to be. Because I am terrible at table arrangements, I wanted to keep it simple. Found these centerpieces at Michaels, holyyberries in a nice, small stand, and put three of them down the center of the table. 70% off to boot! The brownie trifle was a recipe my mom made, and she got it from the Jell-O website. It’s cut brownies layered with whipped cream, chocolate pudding and raspberries. Yum. This Cherries in the Snow one is another good one for the holidays and makes for a pretty presentation. Debating between that one and a Pumpkin Mousse Parfait from Ina for NYE.

The Neighbor Husband - and, of course, having two wigs isn’t enough. There was serious debate about who had more accesories. ;)

    Thanks, mdvelazquez!
