I cannot properly express how much I love Valentine’s Day. I think it might be my favorite holiday. Even though I probably say that about every holiday, I feel like this one might be it. Growing up, my parents made a big deal about Valentine’s Day, and I love them for it. Because that’s likely how it all began. I love making it fun for the kids, from the moment I wake them up until the second their head hits the pillow at the end of the day. I love them every day. And I am loved every day. But Valentine’s Day? It’s just that extra special day to put it all over the top. The day when people are happier. Celebrating love. My friend, Patrizia, texted me last night, “I think I went overboard for Valentine’s Day.” I assured her that there was no such thing.
My littlest sous chef. We started Valentine’s Day prep last night, as three of the kids went to work making Cherry Shortbread Hearts. Yum.
The card I made for Madeline to give out at school.
Love that shirt with the hearts (Old Navy). Sent one to Sophie too. Too cute.

Present from the kids. Love them.
Hello heart-shaped pizza lunch at work.
And mid-afternoon ice cream treat at work.
Madeline’s goody bag from my parents.
The most awesome Post-It dispenser ever courtesy of my Mom. It comes complete with a selection of assorted pink Post-Its. Which I am totally hiding from the kids.
Valentine mailboxes at Madeline’s school.
Madeline’s present for me.
And Nick’s. Inside are little slips of papers with why he loves me. I am totally the luckiest mom ever.
The card I made for Mystic.
As I was rattling off the list of desserts that I was planning on making for tonight’s Valentine’s Day dinner party, I mentioned I might make a heart-shaped cake. Then my mom said that she used to make one every year for me and my sister when we were kids. So it was pretty much a given that I had to do the same for my own kids.
Six kids. Six adults. Penne with tomato sauce. Heart-shaped ravioli and a ridiculous amount of awesome desserts.
Cookie dough bites. Recipe coming soon. Kids adored them.
Red Velvet Whoopie Pies.
Seven Layer Finger Jello. Recipe also coming soon.
I missed pictures of Mystic’s flowers and the kids’ stash from school. I love seeing all their little Valentine’s from their friends. But it’s late, and I’m tired, and done for the day. I woke up this morning, ridiculously excited to start our day, and it was another Valentine’s Day that did not disappoint. This weekend, we’re doing it one last time as we have a Bloggers Valentine’s Day Feast. Cannot wait.
Will be back Thursday.
