Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrated it today. The Husband treated me to breakfast in bed and a gorgeous bouquet of red roses with white calla lilies. No complaints here, it certainly made for a nice way to start the day.
For cookbook addicts like me, you’ll be pleased to know there’s a plethora of new cookbooks coming out:
For those in the San Francisco Bay area, there’s a fantastic new one that takes you through the Ferry Plaza Market. The San Francisco Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market Cookbook is a 300+ page book filled with colorful photographs and over 130 recipes featuring fresh and seasonal ingredients.
Foodies favorite bad boy, Anthony Bourdain, releases his newest work tomorrow with The Nasty Bits. Another book filled with tales of Bourdain’s cooking and travels, it’s broken down in five separate categories: salty, sweet, sour, bitter and umami (“a Japanese term for a taste the defies description”).
Michael Ruhlman fans (me! me!) will be pleased to know his next book comes out this week, with The Reach of a Chef. Anthony Bourdain has called Ruhlman, “the greatest living writer on the subject of chefs—and on the business of preparing food.” This book features more behind-the-scenes peeks on restaurants and discussion on life after Julia Child.
The grillmaster, Steven Raichlen, takes on ribs with his new release, Raichlen on Ribs, Outrageous Ribs – just in time for Father’s Day.
And lastly, the king of the sea, Tom Douglas, released his newest cookbook, I Love Crabs!.
That should keep us all busy for a little while! I know I added a few to my wish list…
Onto the dogs!
A year ago today… back from Brimfield.
Starting tonight’s round-up with a newcomer to the group, Peanut Butter Etouffee with their adorable duo:
