The first time I picked up Jacqui Malouf’s Booty Food cookbook, I didn’t make the connection as to who she was. She’s Bobby Flay’s sidekick on Hot off the Grill with Bobby Flay. Hadn’t used the cookbook yet, so thought I’d pick something from it for today’s Rediscovering My Library segment. Because we all like Rice Pudding, I thought that would be the perfect choice.
Well, one batch in the trash later, and that one is crossed off the list. My cooking times were much longer than what she indicated in the cookbook and it just didn’t taste good. Hopefully that’s not an indication of the rest of the recipes (and I’m sure not because it has gotten good reviews on Amazon), so I’ll be plugging along and trying another recipe from it this weekend. I mean, you couldn’t really be at Bobby Flay’s elbow and not pick up a tip or two, right?
For this week’s nod for New (to Me) Blogger on the Block, I am introducing you to the very new Culinary Journey. Whether it’s her deliciously messy BBQ chicken, an afternoon of baking or nothing-beats-homemade French Bread Pizza, keep on eye on her site for more good things to come.
OK, folks, a short post tonight. I am taking a day off from Sweetnicks tomorrow, but make sure you come back Saturday, July 1, to find out what exciting announcements I have (yes … all of you who don’t visit me on the weekends just might be tempted to stop on by).
Until then… don’t forget to send me your permalinks for I’ll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours #2 (shots of your spice cabinets/racks/shelves for the round-up this weekend). You can see the roundup for #1 here
A year ago today… mmmm, deja vu indeed!
