So as of this writing, there have been 94 people that voted in the male/female poll last night, and 4% of them are male (glad to see you guys represented!). That’s about what I figured. Microsoft’s little toy was trying to convince me that the numbers were about 50/50 — ha!
This morning, I stopped by the Boonton Farmer’s Market. Boonton is an interesting little town. It’s one of those places that is trying so hard and could very well be on the cusp of being a quaint little town you spend the day in. Small antique shops, art galleries and even a dog spa pepper the winding downtown Main Street. The only problem is they’re intermingled with a lot of empty retail space and a gorgeous old-fashioned movie theater that has disappointingly become a One Hour Photo. There’s a few cute restaurants in Boonton though, and they’ll be the subject of a some upcoming Restaurant Reviews.
Back to the Farmer’s Market. To tell you the truth, I keep forgetting it’s there, and it doesn’t look like I’ve been missing much. If you need a quick fix of farm-fresh veggies, it’s fine, but it really doesn’t compare to some of the others (i.e., Madison, Morristown). Believe it or not, there were actually only two farm stands there today with vegetables. There was also a vendor selling homemade ravioli (?), Paul’s Sour Pickles, a cheese vendor and a table that had pastries from The Upper Crust, a very cute British restaurant in downtown Boonton. Just an odd mix of vendors, and when it’s billed as a “farmer’s market,” I’d think that would be the dominating item offered. No matter, I was able to pick up a few things and I’m planning to get my fix tomorrow in Morristown. If you’re in the Boonton area on a Saturday morning, do stop by and support the local vendors. If you’re not, don’t make a special trip.
Did some culling of my cookbook library today. First person to tell me what they’re planning on cooking up for dinner tomorrow night (in the comments section) gets a copy of The Recipes of the Five Brothers, a cute little cookbook with Italian specialties.
Until tomorrow…
A year ago today … a big day in more ways than one. A milestone for Nicholas and our very first dinner with The Neighbors! We’ve all been through so much together in the past year, it’s hard to believe it hasn’t been longer. To another year of good times, good fun, and good friends.

Farmers markets rock! You should bring a camera next time :)
We’re having leftovers
Dinner will be pasta with shrimp and asparagus. (I’m starving for something good—–the power just came back on since going out in the storm on Wed. evening.)
I wish I knew you were into Boonton. My uncle just sold his old Victorian on Washington Street. It was orginally one of the founding family’s home. Beautiful old place with lots of history.
I hear it’s going to be torn down soon. It’s on a double lot and worth more as a building parcel. Such a shame.
Dani – the cookbook is yours. Just e-mail me with your address.
Wheresmymind – I did have it, nothing picture-worthy, I promise. ;)
Robert – what a shame!
I almost bought a dog in Boonton. But we passed bc the dog was definitely not a jack russel like they said it was.
