First, and most importantly, my second article is now up at Cooking Light, Inspired Vegetarians. Go read it, share it with your friends, cook from it, repeat.
With Nigella Lawson’s new show Nigella Feasts on the horizon (debuting on Food TV Network in October), it seems only fitting that tonight’s edition of Rediscovering My Library introduce you to one of her cookbooks. If you have yet to discover her, you’re in for a real treat. She has a very romantic, sensual way of writing … one that once you become familiar with it, you will instantly recognize the writing as “hers.” She has quite a few cookbooks under her belt, and each one is better than the next. Nigella Bites is a particular favorite … with chapters entitled Comfort Food, TV Dinners, Party Girl, Rainy Days, Trashy and Templefood, you’re sure to find something that will speak to you. My sister has made and recommends the Salt and Pepper Squid, the Chocolate Cloud Cake and the Vietnamese Chicken and Mint Salad. Having had the Chocolate Cloud Cake when my sister made it for a family brunch last year, I wholeheartedly agree. I’ve made the Creamy Potato Gratin (loved it!) and the Bagna Cauda to great success. Check it out when you get a chance — besides have wonderful recipes, it’s a perfect book to curl up with for a long read.
For tonight’s New (to Me) Blogger on the Block, we’re going a little outside the box. I’m a sucker for behind-the-scenes stuff, particularly when they involve restaurants and food shows. So when I discovered that the Food Network has recently unleashed their own blog, Behind the Scenes at Food Network, I was instantly in love. Whether it’s how they find the perfect fried chicken recipe, a newly released cookbook or, so far, my favorite post, how they get their perfect food photographs, I’m on this one like white on rice.
Alright folks, that’s a wrap for tonight. Until tomorrow…
A year ago today … pizza with my kid.
Better Homes and Garden this month or next, I am not quite sure but they have a bunch of Au Gratin Potato recipes that sound delicious. I plan on making one this weekend and I will share. Any past recipes that you have made of this dish?

Mmmm, love, love, love Potato Gratins. Yes, I have a few good ones that I can give you, if you want. Maybe some burgers on the grill?
The choc. cloud cake isnt really a nigella recipe. She took it from Richard Sax’s classic home desserts. Btw, that book is fabulous, I’d highly reccomend it. I bought it on ebay for around 8 dollars.
Duly noted. Just happened to be one of the recipes we’ve made from her book. She definitely has good taste. ;)
Cate–great job on the Cooking Light article and thanks for the heads up on the FN blog–that IS fun to read!
Thank alot, Cate. Now I am spending my whole morning reading that FN blog instead of working!
Glenna – no problem. :)
Madeline — LOL. All in a days work, ma’am.
Hey!
I had not idea that Nigella was doing a new show. Glad to hear it. I’ve missed her!
