It’s hard to believe that it’s been two weeks already since Madeline became a part of our family, and nothing has touched me more than how Nicholas is with her. Of course I realize this could just be the honeymoon phase and will possibly wear off, but however long it lasts, I’ll take it!
Recent quotables from Nicholas:
- “Can we go down and see the baby shop?” He asked this while I was still in the hospital, and it took a few minutes before we realized he meant … the nursery. I thought it was incredibly cute, but he was embarassed when we passed along the anectdote, so shhh! Don’t tell him I told you!
- “Whoa, whoa, we need a burp cloth here!” This one cracked me up. He has become a pro at figuring out what Madeline needs, and when, making sure to tell anyone who will listen why x, y and z is important for a baby. He’s like a little manny (male nanny) squished into a five-year-old’s body.
I love how sweet he is! He’s going to be an expert. And one day…when he’s older, even he will enjoy telling the “baby store” story!
That picture puts everything in perspective. Wonderful!
I thought we were in a honeymoon phase too with my oldest Chris, when his twin brothers were born (he was 2 and a half) and when his sister was born (he was four). But no, to this day he insists on hugging every one of them when he gets up in the morning, wants to kiss the baby goodnight, and calls her only “Tiny” (he called her Tiny when she came home from the hospital because, “she’s so tiny!”). It may never wear off. The twins love their baby sister too. I’m sure one day they’ll go through a cats-and-dogs phase, but for now I just thank my lucky stars that they all love each other so much! What a blessing!
Oh my gosh, put it in a bottle and save it. So sweet.
It’s so cute. Even The Girlfriend is talking about her now. All the time.
We’re ready to babysit anytime. We’ll come to you.
