Another holiday has come and gone and all that’s left are stray halves of colored plastic eggs, plastic grass, leftovers galore and candy, candy, candy. The kids are fast asleep and I am unwinding after a long, but fun day. We even snuck in a one hour nap before dinner tonight. I can’t remember the last time that Nick had a nap in the middle of the day – nor I for that matter!
Yesterday the kids and I headed to Hoboken for an Easter egg hunt… in the rain… and the cold. Blech. Nick really wanted to do a hunt and we didn’t get a chance to go last weekend, so this was our only opportunity, and I couldn’t miss it for him. Luckily the weather thwarted many attendees, so the competition for the kids was very slim. On the way home, there were many oohs and ahhs as Nick went through all the eggs he found, so he was quite the happy camper.
My mom gets the Easter holiday and didn’t disappoint with a fantastic spread … antipasto, ham, Italian Meat Pie, Patti LaBelle’s Over the Rainbow Macaroni and Cheese, a corn dish and roasted asparagus. Dessert? Continuing to work her way through Anne Byrn’s Cupcakes! cookbook, this time she made the Oreo ones. Yum.
Last year, when we were at my parents house for Easter, I took pictures of the three kids on the sofa in the living room, and I wanted to take the same picture this year so we could compare the two. Here’s last years:
And here’s this years’. What a difference a year makes! Getting Madeline to sit still for the picture, or for anything really, was quite the challenge. I think I must have 30 pictures and this is probably the closest I got.
I loved the individual expressions in this one.
The girls each got a Little Tykes ride-on toy at my parents and Nick was great with them, pushing them around and around and around. No wonder he passed out when he got home! The little princesses certainly had him running!
Now that I’m seeing the picture of the mac and cheese, I’m sorry I didn’t take some to go!
Nick made placecards for everyone as an afterschool project last week.
Whether it was Easter, Passover or just a regular day, hope yours was a wonderful one.
Wow, they have all grown so much. What a beautiful group of kids. Love Madeline’s dress! And Sophie’s eyes are such a fantastic shade of blue.
So glad you all had a great holiday.
