Food and Life

Ten on Tuesday

April 27, 2010 · Narrative

  1. Our trampoline takes up slightly less than half of our backyard.  The grass is growing like crazy on one half of our backyard.  You’d think it was the half where the trampoline wasn’t, right?  You know, the side that gets FULL SUN?  Nope.  Underneath the trampoline?  Nice and grassy.  Growing a little crazily, like in the you-might-need-to-actually-mow this type.  The other side?  Nothing.  Absolutely, positively nothing.  I don’t get it.
  2. I use my electric mixer more if I leave it on the counter.  I personally hate leaving it there because I’d rather have the counter space, but I guess using it is better than not.
  3. I need a new blender.  A good one.  Because my last one, um, might have eaten a spatula.
  4. The Neighbor Wife taught Madeline two important words today: Bloomies and Neiman-Marcus. They just might serve her well someday.
  5. I just found out that The Fresh Beat Band is going to be at Sesame Place for a concert this summer.  I cannot wait to see Madeline’s face when she sees them up close and in person.  She is going to freak. I think Jamie and I might be just as excited.
  6. I would love to know what the heck Siobhan Magnus was wearing on American Idol tonight.  I mean, some of her outfits are a little out there, but this one took the cake.
  7. And speaking of outfits, I’ve become fixated on Doc Martens, but not related to Siobhan.  I totally want a pair.
  8. I just read something recently, an interview with R&B star Usher, where he mentions that he has perfected the recipe for Tuscan Egg Toast.  Ok peeps, fill me in.  What is Tuscan Egg Toast?  It’s a new one on me.
  9. The Neighbor Wife has said they’ll get a spotlight put on their house so they can see Madeline sneaking out of her room when she’s in high school.  Because she is destined to be that girl.
  10. Love the show Parenthood.  So glad that the tv world found a vehicle to get Lauren Graham (she of Gilmore Girls fame) back on.

Mint Oreos

Believe it or not, I’ve never been a fan of Oreos. Even as a kid. But then, a few years ago, I discovered the chocolate filled Oreos. They are definitely an Achilles Heel of mine so I don’t buy them that often. The kids and Jamie love Oreos. Period. Any kind. On a whim, we bought the mint filled ones last week. Bad idea. Because I’ve now found a second kind of Oreos that I like.

Ha! Your blender reminds me of my garbage disposal in high school … it ate a few spoons. Oh, the horror.

I have the same issue with my food processor. I just got it a couple months ago and wld start chopping things up by hand when I keep it in the cupboard. So now it just stays on the countertop permanently.

Anyway I’ve never had mint filled Oreos but boy do they sound and look good! You have just officially sent me on a mission to find some :)

I LOVE parenthood! Gilmore Girls was my favorite show back in the day.

My food processor sits on my counter as well…because if it doesn’t, I usually feel like it’s too much of a pain to take it out of the cabinet. Which is ridiculous.

There is a reason why I’ve never tried mint oreos. I think it would be the key to my demise.

Going to the grocery store recently with my boyfriend, I had given him strict orders not to let me buy anything other than the ingredients we needed for one recipe. And what’s the very first thing I see, set up like a beacon of all that is good and holy and delicious in this world?

    Golden Oreos.

I’m powerless to resist. Really. Even when boyfriend fixed me with a glare and reminded me of my own stupid orders not to buy random stuff we don’t need it.

“But these are Golden Oreos,” I whined. And threw a package in my basket before he could guilt trip me again.

So, what I’m definitely saying is… I feel you, Cate. I feel you.

    Roundup, my mowing choice……

Plant Holly bushes (make sure they have thorns) outside her window now and she won’t be able to go out thru her window.

Don’t follow any of the shows that you mentioned.

Oreos rank up their with Choc Chip cookies with me, I don’t like either. Hubby LUVs both.

I have really been enjoying Parenthood, too! I miss Gilmore Girls and watching Lauren Graham and the rest of the cast is fun for me. I think my youngest son is going to be “that boy” when he gets older, too! you are not alone. ;)

I am still lamenting the loss of Gilmore Girls and I watch it in reruns way more then I should. I do like Parenthood, but I wish it was a little less serious. Life is serious enough. Happy to see Lauren Graham tho!

Gilmore Girls brought my husband and I closer together! (And HE introduced ME to it!).

Speaking of blenders, I MAY have lost the o-ring seal somewhere and thus HAD to buy a new kitchen aid one. It is awesome, and the best part is – there are only two parts, so no more missing seals!
