Before I get into today’s (short) topic, I want to know something. When the heck did she start looking so grown-up already? I didn’t notice it when I took this picture. Not until I downloaded it tonight. She doesn’t look my little baby here anymore. Excuse me while grab a tissue or four.
Madeline has a new obsession. It has not, however, taken the place of her love for cows, but it is sharing top billing lately. Rainbows. She is totally my daughter through and through. Last week, she refused to get dressed unless it was a shirt with a rainbow on it. We have one. Help. I managed to find the one she’s wearing here over the weekend, so now we’re up to two, but if you know what a two-year-old is like, you know that barely lasts two days. If that. I’m not too fond of doing laundry every day, thankyouverymuch. So far I’ve checked Target, Kohl’s, Children’s Place and Gymboree. How can there not be more rainbow t-shirts for little kids available? Does it not just scream “kids?’ Or maybe that’s just me. There are (overpriced) ones on eBay (though nothing that screams “buy me now”) and a few on CafePress, but I’m just not willing to spend more than ten bucks for a shirt that she will outgrow in six months. Even for her. A few friends suggested making one, so if I can’t find anymore, I might stop in at a local craft store. Perhaps I’ll get lucky and there are rainbow transfers.
But in the meantime, if you have seen any rainbow-themed clothing for the two-year-old set in your retail wanderings, please drop me a line and let me know. I thank you. My mornings thank you. And most importantly, Madeline thanks you.
Oh, and the rerow? That’s what she calls them. She hasn’t quite mastered the pronunciation of rainbow yet, and it is the cutest thing ever. Nick said aMiNals for the longest time, and even now, has to stop and think to make sure he doesn’t mix up the M and the N. I think hearing the special ways kids pronounce certain words is one of my favorite things when it comes to kids. You know, on the long list of thousands of other things.
P.S. There’s a fun recipe contest going on at Hybrid Mom. I entered my recipe for Veggie Cheese Wraps last week. Love them. If you happened to have tried the recipe and liked them, or think that it might be right up your alley, I’d be so honored if you gave me a vote. Just click on the pink square to the right of the recipe.
Ahh, that’s better. Just seconds later, the little baby face returned. Thank goodness.
