Last year, the kids and I did a sunflower maze, and I made the organizers promise to come find us if we got lost. Luckily, I was taller than the sunflower stalks, so it was relatively easy to navigate and we did it in about an hour.
This year, although we have been to the sunflower field, we set our sights on a different farm location for the maze.
Because that’s what a Groupon will do.
Twenty-four bucks got us three admissions to the maze, donuts, apple cider, and apples to go.
Pretty much the most awesome deal going.
Although we haven’t been to Stony Hill Farms before, it actually wasn’t that far from our home, and it made for a perfect spot to visit on the most gorgeous Sunday afternoon ever.
Super simple to find, parking is via a gravel lot in front of the farm. Besides the corn maze, there is a General Store on property, where there is quite a selection of locally grown and organic produce, along with candy, pasta, and other little bits of randomness. I had a small container of pesto in my hands, thinking it would make for a quick and easy dinner that night, and put it back after they looked up the price … $13.99. There were a few bargains to be had, but there was definitely some sticker shock as well (we left with local apple cider, beef jerky sticks, and chocolate covered pretzels).
We approached the corn maze area, got our wrist bands, a clue sheet, and an emergency telephone number in case we got lost.
Yeah, this is serious stuff, folks.
We also had to watch a mandatory video before entering, explaining the rules of the maze, and giving some helpful tips.
And the maze? Well, the corn stalks are definitely way taller than me, so there was no looking over everything to find the right way to go, as we could with the sunflower maze. There were a few employees scattered throughout the maze, offering assistance as needed, bridges that you could climb to see over everything (and see how far away you were from the end), and colored ribbons to set apart different sections.
And even with a cheat sheet, we managed to get lost a few times. As friends mentioned, this corn maze is hard core. In fact, an upcoming pack walk with the animal rescue group is scheduled to be done at the corn maze, and they’re allowing up to three hours to get it done.
True story.
It was one of those beautiful days that you just want to spend outside. Warm, but not too warm, deep blue skies, just pure awesomeness all around.
After doing the maze, we relaxed for a bit with our juice and donuts. There is also a small concession stand with other snack items available as well, including hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn, should you be looking for a light lunch.
Although the farm was busy, there are enough different areas that the crowd is very well spread out and it’s not overcrowded in the least. Besides the maze that we did, there are also three other smaller ones, two playground areas, and the general store.
The corn maze is open until November 10th, so you still have plenty of time to head over there to enjoy.

I’m pretty impressed that you didn’t totally freak out while in the maze! I know I would have!

I think you should have tried Cherry Crest. That’s one of my favorite places. They have a lot of stuff going on besides the maze. I hope we get there this year -we missed last year. I want to take the kids to Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland too though. They’re right near each other but it would be too much to do both on the same day.
If you come to PA again for Hershey, Lancaster or Gettysburg, you need to make a side trip to my town’s only tourist attraction. – Lake Tobias.
I pass that place every day twice a day. Always wanted to do it – maybe this year.
What!? No pictures of the telephone pole farm? LOL!
