I’ll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours #2

by Cate on July 2, 2006

First in for this month’s I’ll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours is Heather from Eating for One in Kansas:

Kalyn’s spice collection — here’s ONE of her pictures (those popular yellow-labels from Penzeys)! Go check out her site to see the rest!

Cyndi from Cyndi Cooks in California is up next with her stash:

BBQ Queen Sylvia from Soul Fusion Kitchen shares FIVE (!) different pictures of her spices. Here’s one:

Moon Crazy from Peanut Butter Etouffe‘s spice collection houses THREE different types of vanilla!

The second member of Peanut Butter Etouffe, this time it’s Doodles’ turn with her spices:

A new-to-me blogger, Experimentation of Taste, shares her husband’s handiness in helping organize her treasure trove:

The lovely Erika from Wisconsin’s Tummy Treasures is up next (more pictures on her site as well). You can see how popular Penzeys is with everyone!

Check out the beautiful spice shelves that Gabriella from Life as a Reluctant Housewife has. Didn’t realize they were magnetic until I read the post – nice!

Our old neighbors are Indian, and they have this spice tin that Nandita from Saffron Trail has as well. I really love the look and ease of it, but couldn’t manage to whittle down my spice collection to only seven!

Germany’s in the house – it’s the spice drawer from Ulrike of Kuchenlatein. Check out her site to see her uber-organized spice shelf.

Ramya from Cascading Flavours and another spice tin (stop by her site for more pictures as well):

All the way from Spain, Zorra from 1x umrühren bitte shares her collection, including two items I’ve never heard of. What is Aromat and Streumi?

Quite the international round-up tonight, Virginia from France’s Absolutely Green stops by for the big reveal. Her multi-lingual site has her post both in French and English (pictures are in the French translation).

And last, but not least, my own collection. This round-up was a great motivation to go through all my spices and pitch what I haven’t used in awhile. I have a separate cabinet with all my salts and peppers, and my baking stuff (extracts and all) isn’t here either. There’s a great vendor at the Marshall’s Creek flea market in PA that sells the big containers of spices that you see here – I think they’re 3/$10, if I remember correctly. Last year, we moved the back door in the kitchen (it was right where these shelves are), and by doing so, my spices ended up to the right of my stove, which is ideal.

Thanks to all of you who opened up your kitchen (15 this time!). If you missed our first I’ll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours Round-Up #1 featuring everyone’s refrigerators, you can see it here. And as for #3 in the continuing series, this time, it’s your chance to show off your tried-and-true recipe file. You know, the recipes that you go to again and again. Is it in an index card box? Neatly organized in a binder? Saved on the computer? I’ll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours. Send your permalink to me by July 31 and you’ll get a spot in the roundup on August 1.

Thanks for the idea, but you are the only one in the world who thinks that I am uber-organized ;-). Please tell this my mother!

I love this event. And to think I had never heard of Penzy’s before. I also love the indian spice boxes. They are so practical.
