Cocktail Napkin Memories

Posted by Cate under Narrative

When I was organizing my linen cabinet the other day, I came across this stack of cocktail napkins, inherited from grandmother when she died. I loved them and everything they stood for. Entertaining, good times, raised pinkies, cocktails. And as luck would have it, most of them are actually pink!Whenever she had company over, she always started with aperitifs and cocktail food in the living room with her set of cocktail napkins. I use these sometimes when we entertain, but I’d be hardpressed to say I’ve ever seen them for sale in a retail location. An antique store or when we go to Brimfield, yes, but current day and age, not so much. I wonder why. It’s such a fun part of entertaining, it’s really a piece that should be brought back into the fold. And in the meantime, I’ll just do my part with my own set.

A year ago today… fascination with fish.

I love the idea of cocktail napkins and everything they stand for. A different era for sure, but one surely worth remembering. Cheers
