Often times, when Madeline is using the bathroom, you’ll hear her singing come through the door. It never fails to make me smile. I love to hear her sing. But this singing has a purpose. She sings the happy birthday song to herself when she’s washing her hands, so she’ll know how long to wash them for.
A little easy trick I taught her (and Nick) eons ago.
Both of them are obsessive about washing their hands. Which I also love. And I often get reports about people they see that don’t wash her hands.
And sometimes that information is better not to have.
And as an aside, but totally reasonably related, a friend just told me that she knows someone who used to work with Wolfgang Puck, and he kept a super dirty kitchen.
Which pretty much makes me want to cross his restaurants off my bucket list for sure.
Since the kids have a trick for knowing how long to wash their hands for, what about brushing teeth?
Well that’s funny you ask! Because Arm & Hammer totally has that one covered for me. Their Tooth Tunes toothbrush is pretty popular in our house, especially with Madeline. I mean, how else could you make tooth brushing more fun than having one of your favorite songs play while brushing, right?
Fun beats aside, I love the Tooth Tunes for the same principle as Madeline singing happy birthday while she washes her hands. When the two minute tooth tunes song is over, she knows she’s spent enough time brushing her teeth. And since we just got gold stars at the dentist a few weeks back, I’d say we’re on the right track.
Although her heart belongs to Justin Bieber, One Direction is a close second. Just hearing her sing the “that’s what makes you beautiful” chorus is pretty much a perfect way to start the morning. You know, after I get through waking the grumpy sleepy heads up seventeen times.
Morning birds they are not.
And since Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes is the only toothbrush available in North America that features One Direction music, if you happen to have a little fan in your house, this is clearly the one you need. They also have Tooth Tunes featuring music from Queen, Hot Chelle Rae, Selena Gomez, Taio Crus, and more.
The brush itself is nice and slightly weighty, which makes it easy for kids to get and keep a good grip on it, and very easy for them to operate on their own.
Found at your local drug stores, grocery stores, and places like Target.
Beautiful teeth, fun tunes, happy children.
