What a topsy-turvy, upside down weekend it ended up being. Numerous plans that we had got changed, revamped, or canceled. New spontaneous plans sprung up. New super-short-term foster dogs. Downtime. Craziness. Good food. Fun times. Exhaustion. But just the right amount of imperfect perfection. Now on with the pictures.
Kids artwork. Totally one of my favorite things.
Merry was at the vet for two nights, getting her second heartworm treatment. She was seriously glad to see the kids and fell asleep on Madeline’s lap on the way home.
This is Polly, who we fostered for two days. She is about 8 months old, very affectionate, and quickly made herself at home. In the short time she was with us, she managed to worm her way into the kids hearts really quickly. After we dropped her off at the kennel on Saturday, I had three kids in tears (Nick had a friend with him) at our next stop, the grocery store. I’m sure the other customers thought I beat my children.
Despite requests for fish and a bird for The Ex (one of his died during the Hurricane and Madeline wanted to surprise him), I was quite proud that I managed to escape the pet store without any new pets. Nick’s friend wasn’t so lucky. Or maybe she was. ;) And man, since when did goldfish start costing ten bucks?!
This shot, also of Polly, kills me. I was taking her to an Adoption Day event at a pet store, and she just looks so stoic here, like she’s trying to put on a brave face for a hard day.
Quick stop at my favorite used book store. Got a huge stack for eleven bucks, including many that were on my Amazon Wish List. Big score.
And this is Diesel. We picked him up from the Adoption Day and brought him back to the kennel. A sweet pit bull mix that loves to jump up and give big hugs.
And this shot of Diesel hurt my heart. He curled up in a little ball and let out the biggest sigh ever. I felt so sad for him, because he didn’t get chosen that day.
New recipe for Thai Turkey Burgers, coming this week.
Although it makes for a pretty picture, I hate that these were some of the new toppings available at the froyo place.
Someone got a haircut! So handsome!
Watched this movie today (review coming soon). I will never look at Perdue, Tyson, and Smithfield again. Nor will I patronize them. But Stonyfield? You have my heart forever.
Frozen yogurt date with my kids today, checking out a new place (yep, review coming soon). Had a pretty awesome day with my favorite little people.
