Went to Chevys restaurant for dinner tonight. I had the Chicken Fajitas and The Husband had the Steak Fajitas … a nice, healthy meal. They have a great guacamole there, with nice big chunks of fresh avocado – yum. Kitchen’s closed for the night here … American Idol is on. :)
Lots of new cookbooks have hit the stores recently, and I’ve been snapping them up. First up is a new one from Paula Deen. You can grab yourself a copy here. It’s called Paula Deen & Friends: Living It Up, Southern Style. We were lucky enough to see her at the Food Network Food Expo last year in Philly, as she is as warm and down-to-earth in person as she is on her show. If you don’t mind adding full sticks of butter to nearly all your recipes, you’ll like her stuff. She’s not shy about the fat content. It’s obviously not eating for an every-day lifestyle, but once in awhile, it’s good eatin’.
Rachael Ray has yet another cookbook out, Rachael Ray’s 30-Minute Get Real Meals: Eat Healthy Without Going to Extremes. Quite the prolific writer, this is her 10th cookbook out, with another one due in October. True to her style, these are recipes you can whip together and get on the table in 30 minutes. She still loves using EVOO (that’s extra virgin olive oil for non-Rachael Ray fans), but the recipes don’t rely on pre-packaged boxes or mixes and are relatively healthy. Get yourself a copy here.
Tyler Florence is the next one to join the club with another offering, Eat This Book. I’ve already preordered my copy and am looking forward to this one. Check it out here. And, um, for some eye candy, here ya go!
