TGIF!!

OK, quick entry tonight, since I have to get up real early tomorrow. Dinner tonight was a fast one … I had some stuffed shells in the freezer that I had made awhile back, and in an effort to eat-out-of-the-freezer once a week, I heated those up for dinner. I love stuffed shells, but don’t make or eat them too often.

All the new cooking magazines are starting to appear now. I’ve gotten the new issues of Bon Appetite, Gourmet, Cooking Light, Olive, delicious., Donna Hay and one or two others. I love when the new issues hit the stands (or my mailbox!). Now to just catch up!

NEWSFLASH … Rachael Ray will be having her own cooking magazine, due to hit a newsstand near you in the Fall. Sign me up! Anything that helps get dinner on the table in 30 minutes or less is something I can wrap my mind around quite easily. Not as an every day thing, but certainly following those harried-crazy days at work! I saw one episode of her 30 Minute Meals where she made the food for a cocktail party for 10 in half-an-hour — very impressive!

And lastly, a bunch of wholesale suppliers have opened their online doors to retail consumers — yay for us!! Dairyland, a company based in the Bronx, is a major supplier to restaurants in NYC and across the country. Such available delicacies for you to purchase include Badoit water from France, fresh pheasant and sliced smoked salmon from Scotland. Believe it or not, the prices don’t look half bad either. Check out their website here. Another one to check out is Zabars, where you can find an astounding collection of specialty cheeses running the gamut from cheap to ridiculous. Earthy Delights sells hard-to-find produce like ramps and fresh fiddleheads and even carries exotic items like Shagbark hickory syrup (?).
