Confession Time. Ever since I made that yummy Mexican Fried Ice Cream for dinner on Saturday night, I’ve had it every night for dessert. Just a really teeny portion, but it’s so good, I can’t stop. But tonight, I did. I had a Weight Watchers dessert. Not quite as satisfying, but a one day break isn’t going to kill me. I’ll just have my Mexican Fried Ice Cream again tomorrow. ;)
Burger King has a new CEO, Greg Brenneman, who is determined to get the company out of the shadow of the Golden Arches. Wendy’s customer-share was coming dangerously close to taking over the #2 spot in the fast-food rankings, until Brenneman came on board. Burger King has gone through an astounding 10 CEOs in the past 14 years, but Brenneman seems to have his finger on the pulse of how to turn it all around. An unique take on how to accomplish what he needs to do, he is focusing on the segment of the population that do NOT necessarily count fat grams, carbs or calories. He’s focusing on the the guys who come in and have a Whopper with Cheese, large fries and a Shake without blinking an eye. Under his watchful eye, they unveiled the 760-calorie Enormous Omelet Sandwich (two omelets and cheese slices, three strips of bacon and a sausage patty on a bun). Since then, their breakfast sales have gone up 20%. Studies indicate that 70% of their business comes from the drive-thru. Taking his cue from that, he recently unveiled plans to shrink their dining rooms and focus even more on the drive-thru. I really think he’s onto something. All the other chains are focusing on new takes on salads and other light, healthy meals, yet forgetting about the large segments of the population that either don’t care for that type of food, or have the type of job that burns the calories so quickly, it doesn’t matter. They’re the forgotten bunch, and Brenneman is out for them. Should be an interesting undertaking.
OK, onto dinner tonight. I made Bacon Cheeseburger Wellingtons. A relatively simple meal, it’s a seasoned hamburger topped with bacon and Cheddar, wrapped in crescent dough and baked. Good, but not a WOW for me or The Husband.
And lastly, a simple request. The Husband had an interview today for a promotion within his company. It went really well, and he should know by mid-next week. Think good thoughts for him and cross your fingers!
Tune in tomorrow to find out what goodies I made for my office lunch. Until then…
P.S. I finally got a chance to watch the finale of Grey’s Anatomy last night. All I gotta say … Poor Meredith.
