First of all, as The Brother-in-Law rightfully pointed out, Lord Nelson is NOT my parents’ cat, but rather belongs to him and my sister – duh! Hey, between six of us, there are eight cats, so I get easily confused, what can I say? And Nelson does visit there a lot when my sister and brother-in-law are out of town. At least the misreference brought The Brother-in-Law out of hiding for his very first comment, right? And now their cat has had their 15 seconds of fame, even if it WAS because of Beau. ;)
So, The Neighbor Wife and I were all ready for our cooking class tonight, but they ended up not running it at the last minute due to low enrollment. I was quite bummed, since I was looking forward to it, but we took advantage of the time and ran a few errands and then enjoyed some nice Steak Fries at Fatburger. Great dinner, right? Nope, no burger, just the fries. Neither of us were hungry, and I’m sure it had NOTHING to do with the Mocha Frappuccinos we had whilst out at Target.
Nicholas‘ school had a field trip today to a farm to go apple picking. Both him and The Girlfriend had a great time, picking apples right from the tree, petting the farm animals and having lunch there. They brought home a small bag of apples, and I found the perfect recipe to make for them … you’ll have to tune in tomorrow to see what I do with them.
In the meantime, just saw a review of a new book that might interest you, Julie and Julia. I’m sure you’ve heard the story, but what started as a lark for Julie Powell became a popular blog and now a book. She decided, one by one, to tackle all of Julia Child’s recipes from her popular cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She detailed her experience on her blog, The Julie/Julia Project, which caused her to become an “internet celebrity” of sorts. Believe it or not, there’s actually no recipes in Julie’s book, but it’s more of a celebration on the journey she embarked on. Unfortunately, she stopped blogging about it with Julia’s passing last year, but the book should prove to be an interesting read, and it’s winging its way to me now (used copies only $10 from Amazon, in case you’re interested).
All for now … off to snuggle with my munchkin. Until tomorrow…
LOL! Glad the BIL straightene the facts out about Lord Nelson. ;-)
Bummer about the cooking class. They should have still held it.
Sounds like Nicholas had a good day with the Girlfriend. Looking forward to your recipe.
Thanks for the headsup on the book.
Best,
Paz
Was wondering when the book would come out.

With all the work you do, you have to be able to have a break!
