The end of the week is finally here … thank goodness! Had the day off today, and managed to get a few errands done, including a hair cut, but as usual, the day went by quickly.
Nicholas‘ old school had a Back to School picnic tonight, so no cooking dinner. He had a great time visiting his old friends, and spent over 3 hours racing around the playground playing with everyone. You’d think he would have conked out as soon as his head hit the pillow, but of course not. His second wind must’ve come along when I wasn’t looking.
Parents were asked to bring a dessert to the picnic, and I brought the cookies I made yesterday. The cookies ended up being the only homemade item on the dessert table. I suppose in this day and age with everyone being overly stretched for time, it’s not really a surprise, but still…
The Husband is working tomorrow, so Nicholas and I are going to go out to breakfast with his girlfriend, which should be fun. Planning on making a nice dinner for tomorrow night, but inspiration has yet to hit. Decisions, decisions. So many recipes, so little time.
My Dad’s birthday is today (Happy Birthday!) and we have FINALLY hit the end of “birthday season” in our family. We’re clear until February. We’re celebrating his birthday on Sunday night and I’m in charge of dessert. Debating between baking or buying something. There’s a great wholesale bakery that has fantastically decadent treats, and I may just take this excuse to stop in there. We’ll see.
All for tonight; tune in tomorrow to see how the weekend shapes up. Until then…
