The Neighbor e-mailed me about a great toy she picked up for Nicholas and The Girlfriend … Walkie Talkies! We were hoping the kids could use them between the houses, but although they only live behind us, it’s too far. No matter … now that she’s had this brainstorm, we’re on the search for higher strength walkie talkies or intercoms. I’m sure when we hear the 3 am “Hello, are you there?” “Nick, Nick, are you awake?” calls, we’ll regret this, but in the meantime, I think it’s a great idea!
When I told Nicholas they were coming down to visit tonight, the first thing he said was, “I love her! I love her, I love her, I love her!” Yesterday, he called her a “silly woman.” Too funny.
They were so excited to see each other at their breakfast date this past Sunday at McDonalds. After running around for awhile, they plopped themselves on the floor and started writing and coloring. We were there for over 2 hours and had to practically pry them apart with many more “just one more kiss” pleas before we finally left.
Not the clearest picture, I know. I finally figured out how to take the pictures from my phone and e-mail them; that’s where this one comes from. I have a new digital camera and am starting to get the hang of it, but, of course, the Kodak moments never involve a camera with a fully charged battery!
Didn’t make any plans for cooking tonight, since the contractor was going to be tearing apart the piece of my kitchen that had the sink and dishwasher. Unfortunately, he got sick and left before he barely started. I ended up picking up take-out, with fried oysters for me, and a mixed platter for The Husband. Nicholas proclaimed he didn’t want dinner. Problem with that is, then he eats non-stop after dinner. All good stuff, granola bars, bananas, etc., but just not getting the message that it would make more sense to eat a bit more AT dinner. He’s more of a grazer.
We’re doing a bunch of in-office moves tomorrow, so who knows what dinner will be, but I will be making Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins to take to the kids’ Halloween party on Friday.
Optimum Online came to install our cable modem and switch our phone service today, but couldn’t finish, so with the DSL down, we’re still suffering through dial-up until Friday … sigh. I cannot wait until we’re back running smoothly.
All to report for now. Until tomorrow…
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins for your son’s school party? They sound great! I’m smoking 30 lbs of pork butt that will make pulled pork sandwiches for my daughter’s school halloween dance.
We’re such good parents!
The lovebirds are too much! :)
Great job with the phone pic. I’m trying to learn all the features of the digital camera we have, and it’s an older model.
You are so inspiring..all I could come up with for Jordan’s halloween party contribution was oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (good recipe, but not anything wow) and brownies from the box. Bad mommy.
S
Can’t wait to see Nciholas on Friday at the Halloween Party! He looks like he has grown sooooo much! The muffins sound delicious! Can’t wait to taste them! See you then!
The muffins sound great, and I’m sure they’ll be appreciated.
Sorry to hear you are suffering through dial-up!
I just wanted to say how amazed I always am that you are able to blog every day! Such discipline!! I enjoy seeing what you’re up to and what’s cooking or baking!!
Thanks
Wow 30 lbs of pork… sometimes, being a vegetarian is hard. I miiss pork the most…
Good luck baking the Pumpkin Muffins Sweetnick. I love baking. I got hooked on baking when I started selling Watkins products. I love the stuff especially the vanilla. If you want to take a look, check out http://www.watkinsonline.com/home and use associate id# 364407 if you are interested in ordering anything.
WhiteTrashBBQ – ours kids are definitely lucky to have us! ;) The Husband would kill for smoked pork butt – I am very jealous! :) How’s your wife? Is she doing better?
Sadaf – Don’t be silly! Kids don’t notice good vs. bad recipes, nor scratch vs. homemade. Take advantage of that as long as you can! :)
Anonymous – Mel is that you? Ask Lori and Allison about the muffins — I bet they remember them from last year! ;) See you tomorrow!
s’kat – they are delicious and the recipe could not be simpler. I hope you try them! Thanks for understanding our dial-up pain! We actually had DSL for the past 2 years, but it went bad and I got fed up with the bad Customer Service, but getting the cable modem installed wasn’t a next-day thing. Patience is a virtue…
amateur – thanks! I appreciate you coming to visit. It’s not always easy to find the time, but I’d hate to disappoint anyone. I know I always look forward to a new post on MY favorite blogs.
Chris – I think baking is very therapeutic. Thanks for the id info from Watkins. I used to order a few things from there, but haven’t in awhile. Might be time…
