Another good night, full of good eatin’ and good conversation. I think we hit a record tonight with 7 (yes, 7!) desserts. Our theme tonight was Cooking with Alcohol, with each member bringing one dish from that theme. Turns out we now have 3 (out of 7) Supper Club members pregnant (two announced since the last meeting), so if you make any of the recipes, proceed with caution. Obviously it’s very fertile food! ;)
I’ll give a quick rundown of what we had and will add recipes tomorrow – I’m beat tonight.
No Bake Rum Balls
Butterscotch Apple Pecan Crisp
Cheddar and Black Bean Bolos
Tomato Soup Cake with Cream Cheese Icing

For me, there were many standouts tonight. The Camembert was amazing, and would be a great starter to a holiday meal. Just might make our Thanksgiving table next month. The Bourbon Pork Chops were so tender and delicious. Although The Husband loves pork chops, I very rarely make them because they always seem too dry. He’s going to devour these (brought leftovers home!). I loved the Shrimp Spread I made. Although it was fine on tea sandwiches, I think next time, I’d keep it as a spread and serve it alongside crackers so you get more of the shrimp flavor punch. Desserts were top notch tonight. The Bourbon Brownies – to die for, as were the Harvest Pumpkin Bars, which I think I’m going to make for The Neighbor’s Monday Office Treat. Also, the Tomato Cake – delicious. Didn’t think I’d like it, given the name … one thing I love about Supper Club. If I saw the recipe somewhere, I would have skipped right over it, but it’s definitely worth making, especially topped with a decadent walnut icing from Emeril.
Appetite whetted yet? Tune in tomorrow for recipes.
Wow – Tomato soup cake. My granmother used to make that all the time. I wouldn’t touch it as a kid, but I’ve been meaning to make it for a while now. I just have to get my mother to part with grandma’s recipes.
White Trash BBQ – I’ll be posting the recipe this weekend, so maybe you won’t need grandma’s? ;)
