Tonight we went to a Halloween Party at Nicholas and The Girlfriend’s old school. They had a blast, and really enjoyed seeing all their old friends and favorite teachers. There was quite a variety of costumes there … with princesses very well represented. Funnily enough, both The Girlfriend and Nicholas’ “old school” girlfriend, Isabella, were both dressed as Cinderella. I downloaded the pictures I took at the party and am still trying to figure out the new camera, so in the meantime, the pictures have somewhere disappeared to the nether regions of my computer, so hopefully I’ll uncover them this weekend to post. They’ve got to be somewhere.
Elise at Simply Recipes is hosting the first-ever Great Pumpkin Carve Up Cook Off. Adam of The Amateur Gourmet and I have been lucky enough to be chosen to judge the stiff competition. Interested in participating? See the simple rules below. Also, go to Elise’s site to check out some of the great submissions that have already started to roll in. It looks like Adam and I have our work cut out for us! If Halloween itself isn’t enough of a motivator, there are great prizes to be had too. The most creative entry receives “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” DVD and the best recipe submitted receives, quite fittingly, a brand new just released copy of Mark Bittman’s, “The Best Recipes in the World.”
How to participate (Do you have a blog? If so, great! You can join in…)
1. Save your pumpkin cast-offs from carving a Jack-o-lantern and make something yummy to eat with them.
2. Write about it on your blog AND post a photo of it with your Jack-o-lantern. Include a link to Simply Recipes in your entry. Do this by the end of day wherever you are, October 31, 2005.
3. Send an email to Elise addressed to recipes {at} elise.com. In your email, send the URL of your entry, your name and where you live. Again, please do this by October 31st.
Being the weekend, also brings us all the great “weekend blogging events.” Don’t forget to send me pictures of your precious pups … Weekend Dog Blogging #7 is upon us! Have a cute kitty? Then send your picture to Clare at Eat Stuff to be included in her Weekend Cat Blogging Round-Up and lastly, show off your green thumb by participating in Kalyn’s Kitchen’s Weekend Herb Blogging.
Spending time tomorrow working on getting our yard ready for Halloween with The Neighbors. Supposed to be a gorgeous weekend, and we’re going to take advantage of the weather. Haven’t decided what’s for dinner yet tomorrow, so you’ll just have to tune in to find out. Until then…
P.S. I cannot find my Master Birthday List anywhere, but our good friend, Chris’ birthday is either today or tomorrow, so, Chris – hope it’s wonderful one!!
