Just a quick one today since I’m on my way to a doctor’s appointment, and the computers at home are having DSL issues.
In her newest realm of dangerously being overexposed (assuming the line hasn’t been crossed already), Rachael Ray’s new magazine debuts this week.
You can check out an interview she just did with USA Today here.
I’ll definitely pick up the first issue and give it a look-see, as I do appreciate her cooking and have liked the recipes I’ve made of hers, but 10 cookbooks (11th coming out very soon), 4 shows and now a magazine? Surely there is another exciting yet-to-be-discovered cook we could learn about, no? On FoodTV’s programming list, she’s second only to Emeril, and even in his biggest heyday, I don’t think he got this much exposure. Well, the good news is all this attention isn’t going to Sandra Lee… and that I can live with.
Speaking of discovering another exciting cook, FoodTV Network has already starting looking for the NEXT FoodTV Network star and have extended the deadline for submissions until October 24th. Think you have the chops, or know someone who does? This might be your chance. And hey, you may get to meet Rachael! ;) You can get more info here.
All for tonight, folks. I’ll be back tomorrow and will post a few owed recipes of recently made/talked about food (i.e., Chocolate Macaroon Bars, Sunday Gravy) and more. Tune in to find out what The Husband cooks on his night. Until then…
Looking forward to your comments on Rachael magazine.
Hope you had a good doctor’s visit.
Paz
I do agree, everything I have made from a Rachel Ray recipe has turned out to be good, so you have got to hand it to her on that.
So, are you signing up to be the next big FoodNetwork star?
God, I know, they show her too much. Even on Food TV Canada she’s on all the time!
Amen to giving Rachel some well deserved vacation time. Enough already. And honestly, I have never understood the appeal. I’m so distracted by her mannerisms on tv, that I can barely pay attention to what she’s making.
And if I left the kind of tip she does on her travel show, I would be ashamed of myself.
I agree that Rachael gets a lot of exposure, I guess that’s what you get for being a smart marketeer (I’m making up words) of your skills. Everything I’ve attemped of hers as worked out as well, so I don’t begrudge her the fame.
You are absolutely right when you say thankfully it’s not being given to Sandra Lee. That show is abismal!
And speaking of Rach’s exposure … liked her a lot better before she joined the deep-dip neckline race with Giada. They sure have tarted her up, poor girl.
Paz – waiting anxiously to see it. Paula Deen has a new magazine coming out this Fall too. I’m behind enough on my magazine — all I need is more temptation!
Kalyn – I agree. Haven’t had a Rachael Ray dud, and I saw in an interview that she said they’re still all her recipes, which is nice to know.
Jennifer – tempting…
Sara – do you have the website for FoodTV Canada? I always forget what it is and want to add a link for it here. Since I know you guys get a lot of shows we don’t, it’s fun to check out.
Sadaf — maybe she’ll rest on her honeymoon. ;)
it’s only fuel – thanks for visiting! I don’t begrudge her the fame either, but would be nice to see some of the exposure going to a newfound talent too. She definitely has a great agent, or is great at marketing herself, much like Madonna was great at always reinventing herself.
