Thanks for hanging in for my one day delay on WDB #6. Pups’ pictures below.
OK, the bar review. Yesterday, I made Blueberry Cheesecake Bars, Cherry Coconut Bars, Zucchini Bars and Harvest Pumpkin Bars. The Blueberry ones were very tasty, but don’t cut neatly, and that’s a pet peeve of mine, so no dice. The Cherry Coconut Bars were excellent, and will definitely be repeated. First time I’ve made them, and it’s actually a 50-year-old recipe! The Harvest Pumpkin Bars were delicious; one of our Supper Club members brought them last week to our monthly dinner. Exceptionally easy recipe. The Zucchini Bars were a hard sell, at both my office and The Neighbors’. I haven’t had them yet, but Nicholas gobbled one up; given his disdain for all green vegetables, that’s a GOOD thing! Some of the recipes are on the sidebar already — the rest to follow.
The Husband made it out of Miami just in time, helping his cousin with “hurricane preparedness” before he left yesterday. As he watched the news back in Jersey today, a town that he was just 5 miles away from yesterday now seems to be pretty demolished. He’s been trying to get in touch with his cousin to make sure he’s ok, but it seems all the phone lines are down. Please think good thoughts for him and his family. And in the meantime, thanks for the e-mails asking if The Husband made it home safely — much appreciated! Nicholas was BEYOND thrilled to see him today. This was only the second time they’ve been separated overnight …. poor baby.
Shop Rite had some amazing already-cooked pork loin yesterday, so I cheated and bought that for dinner tonight, and The Husband is making some of his delicious yellow rice.
OK, time for the round-up. Until tomorrow…
P.S. NY Times did a 2-page article on Rachael Ray, cover of their Dining section. Anyone happen to have a copy of it?

Glad the husband made it home safely.
We live north of where the eye came in. It was pretty ugly here for a while, but it came and went pretty quickly. While their town may be in shambles and they may be without power and communications, I’m sure that the family is fine. I’ll keep them in my thoughts.
I know that after last year’s storms here we were without modern conveniences, like showers and phones for a good two weeks. Let’s hope that they’re a little more prepared this year.
The dogs look great, and the bars sound wonderful. I might have to try those cherry coconut ones myself. Yummy!
Glad the hubby made it home safely. Missed the RR spread in NYT. Love the dogs!

Ali – thanks! He spent last night determined that Eli and Bella HAD to have chapstick on their lips. Can’t say they were too amused.
Suz- thanks for dropping by. If you have dogs, feel free to join in this weekend’s WDB #7. In the meantime, make the bars – you won’t be disappointed.
Angela – glad to hear you’re all ok. I’m sure it must be really tense as times, waiting to see where it will hit.
Paz – hoping someone has the article to send me…. some NYer has GOT to have it. ;)
I haven’t been a New Yorker for many years but I never gave up my Times. I have the article if you want it. I don’t have a blog, but I linked to yours thorough the CL BB. I came by to see the dogs. You can email me at BKCKM@aol.com if you really want the article.
