This was definitely a beautiful sight to come home to.
Note the droplets of water in the sink … that means my new sink and faucet are hooked up, and the dishwasher is back in operation mode! Whoo-hoo! Very exciting. Of course, I got home too late to play with my new toys tonight, but this progress is a good thing. Tomorrow, the garbage disposal gets hooked up, and this section is all done. Maybe I can actually do some COOKING this week!
As I mentioned the other day, in the new issue of Food & Wine magazine, they have a list of great gifts for the food-obsessed (me! me! me!), ranging in price from from $2.50 to $2,500. You can find the complete list here – definitely some unique and interesting ideas, and a few I’ll be adding to my list as well. ;)
Unfortunately, in the “is-her-fifteen-seconds-of-fame-up-yet” category, Julie Powell has an article in this issue as well, “Julie Powell Tastes a Foolproof Party Menu.” When I did a search for it on their web site, it didn’t pop up, but an article she did in November for them did, about the Soup Peddler. I guess she’s become a regular columnist. Whooppee.
Also in the gift-buying category, there is their hot-off-the-presses list of Must Have Books for 2005. I have to disagree with at least one of them, and regular readers will know which one. You can see the full list here … a few more to add to MY growing collection.
All for tonight … until tomorrow.
I just got this Food & Wine issue…although the Julie Powell part has slightly dampened my enthusiasm…mainly because the whole Julie Julia thing would be so much better if she could, well, WRITE. Agh. Of course, I’m a professional freelancer and tend to be a) biased and b) have unusually high (read elitist) standards…but still. Give it up already. Her recent, fumbling appearance on Martha did little to redeem her…But enough. The fifteen seconds- I mean hours – will be up soon enough…and blog on we will!
Maybe we should just cut out the Food & Wine gift list, copy it, and hand it out to friends and relatives who ask us for gift ideas….now there’s a pleasant thought!!!!
I totally agree. But if you cut out Food & Wine’s list of “must have” books for 2005, you might want to cross out one of them … Julie’s made the list.
Congrats on the working section of the kitchen. For some reason kitchen projects always seem like they take about 10 times longer than any other part of the house. Can’t wait to see what your 1st meal in your functioning kitchen will be.
I’m SO jealous! Unfortunately, the kitchen remodelling is behind more important things like replacing my foundation (ugh).
I do have a country garbage disposal – it’s called – pigs!
I bet your garbage disposal won’t taste as good as mine! LOL
Mule
well apparently I did NOT win megamillions again this week, which is a shame, since there are so many of those items on the list that I would love to own.
Congrats on the sink!
Blue Mule – yup, foundation is definitely more important. That’s our NEXT project!
Sadaf … one can only dream, right? ;)
You know, DH gave (and installed) a sink for me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I love a good sink. I wonder if I can take it with me when we sell the house?
