The Husband Cooks Wednesdays

by Cate on December 22, 2005

And it’s a darn good thing, because I’m still sick. Went back to my regular doctor today and got new antiobiotics for what is now a sinus/viral infection. Hopefully this will kick it out of me once and for all. In the meantime, The Husband made roast chicken and my favorite yellow rice with green olives for dinner. Goat cheese and cumin will have to wait for tomorrow… but hopefully I’ll start feeling better by then, and I can get working on our Christmas Eve menu… fingers crossed. Until then…

You and me…we are just a couple of sick food bloggers!

To top things off I slipped and fell on the sheet of ice sometimes known as the Target parking lot this morning. I can’t decide if my rump feels worse or my sinuses!

I hope you feel better soon. My husband and I were really sick two years ago at Christmas and when I tried to call my mom two days before Christmas to say I didn’t think we would be making the 8 hour drive home that year, she pulled out all the motherly guilt she could muster about how much the family was looking forward to seeing us, how much she missed us, etc. So we piled up the dog, the gifts, boxes of tissues and cough drops and drove the most miserable 8 hours of our lives.

The kicker was when we walked in the door to mom’s house and she saw just how sick we really were. You know what she said……..”You guys are so sick, you should have stayed home.” Uh, didn’t I try to tell her that?”

It’s amazing what the power of a mothers guilt will make one do.

Sweetnicks, it is really bad this year with the flu stuff. I’ve had two kids miss over a week of school. Yikes. It is impossible to get them caught up when they miss that much, but on the other hand you don’t want them to come if they’re that sick. I haven’t had the respiratory thing, but I’ve had the stomach flu TWICE in a month, something I never get. Not fun. Hope you’re better soon.

Oh gosh Sweetnicks, I hope you get better real fast before this weekend’s festivities. That is, there won’t be any if you’re drowning under the weather :( I’m sure you’re the life of the party and the kitchen:)
