Thanks to all who participated in our first ever Weekend Dog Blogging/Food Contest. I am sure glad I didn’t have to vote, although if I did, Bailey and his beautiful green bean would have been tugging on my heartstrings. All the dogs are simply adorable!
Although there was a huge surge for Mr. Hugo at the end, a lot of those votes came after the midnight deadline, and could not be counted; that means the winner is Lady from Live, Laugh, Love. Congratulations! Judging by the photo submitted, I think Lady was definitely appropriately named, and what a way to celebrate a birthday!
More contests in the future, with the next one in February, so be sure to stay tuned for that.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t address the anonymous poster who was concerned about the food used in the pictures submitted. Although I can’t speak directly for entrants, I am sure most of the food was used as pure prop placement for the contest, and all these dog owners are responsible and know the dangers of specific foods for their pets. They would never put their pet in harm’s way for a little contest. :)
No dinner report tonight … The Husband surprised me and made dinner tonight, which was a wonderful treat. I went to the doctor again this morning, since I’m still not feeling much better, and got some more meds, so coming home to a homecooked, unexpected Cuban meal of Picadillo with Black Beans and Rice sure hit the spot.
Keeping the post short tonight, because I’m going to call it an early night. Have dinner all planned for tomorrow, so you’ll have to tune in then to see how cumin and goat cheese make their way to our dinner table.
Until tomorrow…
Hope you feel better soon! What a great treat from the DH – good for him!
Adorable picture of doggie and cake.
Yay Lady!!! My Nate Nate has one heck of a crush on her.. so he’s excited.
And I think I can probably speak up for Lady’s mommy on this one – but if Lady is eating a cake, I guarantee it is made from dog safe ingredients. Karen is the best dog mommy ever!!
All the dogs were darling. We heart dogs!
YAHHHH I am sooo happy for her and Lady. hehe
Congrats WINNERS!
Haley
yes and the other pups were cuties
Congratulations to Lady! I hope your medicine does the trick and you’re back to feeling well soon.
Best,
Paz
I love goat cheese. Can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve.
BTW, I do hope you remember the “From my Rasoi” event. I’m still waiting for your post, the deadline’s almost here! :o)
Thank you so much to everyone who kindly voted for Lady’s picture and huge thanks to Sweetnicks for hosting this fun contest. I was offline for most of the contest as my grandmother is gravely ill and I’ve been busy and preoccupied dealing with that and helping my family. It is a very difficult time for us and I think it’s extra hard right here at the holidays.
For anyone who was concerned, the cake I baked for Lady was a special doggie recipe with dog safe ingredients such as carrots, peanut butter, and cream cheese for frosting. She only had a tiny bit, but as that is an older picture, I can assure you that Lady is perfectly fine. My dogs are a huge part of my life and I would never do anything to put them in harm’s way.
Anyway, thanks again to all. I’m sure I’ll use the gift certificate for either a doggie book or a new cookbook….my two favorite kinds of books! :)
I thought all the pictures were great. I didn’t vote but if I had chosen one other than my own, it would had to have been Bailey with the green bean. I love Goldens and I thought that was just way too cute.
It was really fun to participate in this…what a great idea! :)
