Monday Kick Off

by Cate on January 17, 2006

So I had dinner all planned, with visions of Spaghetti Carbonara dancing through my head. We haven’t had it in awhile, and it’s a great, quick weeknight meal. The Husband called to check on what time I would be home from the office, and told me he already had dinner taken care of. What a sweetie! He made his Picadillo and Black Beans and Rice. Must be something going through the neighborhood, because rumor has it that The Neighbor Husband made dinner tonight also. Whatever’s going around, this is one virus I don’t mind catching. ;) So Spaghetti Carbonara will have to wait.

And speaking of waiting, I completely forgot about my Sound Bite Saturday segment, so without further delay…

Anchovy Mashed Potatoes? Yep, Accidental Hedonist did ’em, and if you can get past the odd combination, check out the picture here, you might just print out the recipe like I did. Looks like a good one.

The Husband is a big fan of roasted potatoes, so when I saw these Pan-Fried Yujon Gold Potatoes with Paprika from Pork Cracklins, I knew I’d be adding them to my growing “to try” pile.

Culinary Muse in San Francisco gets the final Sound Bite for presenting a new recipe for one of our favorite cuts of meat.

Geesh, so much for whittling down my “to try” pile of recipes … I’m just adding to it! :)

OK, onto my plethora of quickly browning bananas. Nicholas and I ended up making Banana Pound Cake tonight. It’s a great way to use up your bananas, and a tried-and-true for us that I made all the way back in September. Do try it.

OK folks, all for tonight. Don’t forget tomorrow is ARF/5-A-Day #3, so food bloggers who make a recipe that is an ARF (Antioxidant Rich Food) or one that contains fruits or veggies, or any combination of the three, e-mail me your permalink by 9 pm EST to be included in the round-up tomorrow. Until then…

What a nice hubby you have. I want one. :)
I had several veggie recipes over the weekend, but nothing original or exciting….I plan on making crockpot cranberry chicken soon, so maybe next week.
BTW, in case you missed my comment, the pepperoni pie was a huge hit at work! Thanks again!

Bannana pound cake sounds like a winner

Those potatoes were really good, and so simple! I used Spanish sweet paprika and I loved the subtle smokiness it added.

And I agree, banana pound cake, yum! Thanks for posting the recipe. I’m nuts about banana!

Jen – if only you lived closer, I’d find you one! Last people I fixed up got married a year ago. ;) Glad you liked the pepperoni pie – can’t be easier, right?

Clare – it’s much moister than the traditional pound cake, which I’m not a fan of. Hope you try it!

Sheri – I’ll make you a deal. You make the banana pound cake and I’ll make the potatoes!
