The day began early for all of us and the kids are beyond pooped. With a 6 am wake-up and an early morning flight, their schedules are a little out of whack today. Nicholas, for the first time EVER, actually fell asleep during dinner tonight, as did The Girlfriend … before 7 pm! As I write this, he’s still snoring away on the bed next to me. Poor baby. He was funny on the plane today — the little TVs came down to play an episode of Reba over and over, and as soon as Nicholas saw the TV come down, the first words out of his mouth were, “Do they have Dora here?” Thank goodness they didn’t. Too funny.
We reach our first destination early tomorrow morning, and our only US stop. Here’s a few clues. The city is compact, about the size of New York’s Central Park. A President once lived in this town, an actress owns a restaurant there and a very popular author also lived there. The city is an island and only two miles long and four miles wide, with its signature drink being a Rum Runner. Although it can’t be said for many US cities, it is legal to drink alcohol (as long as its in a paper cup) on the streets of this city. First person in the comments section to correctly guess where we’re arriving tomorrow wins a cookbook. If no-one guesses correctly by the time I post tomorrow night, I’ll post some visual clues to help you along. Family members excluded! :)
In the meantime, the day today was definitely a lively one. With an hour of arriving where we are now, The Girlfriend had a time-out at the airport, Nicholas accidentally dumped a bowl of pasta on the floor, first fifteen minutes at a lounge netted one broken glass and full cocktail on the floor, topped off by a visit to the doctor for an infected toe. Whew! Hoping tomorrow’s a bit more relaxing!
No breakfast or lunch report, since they barely existed, but dinner was a Rustic Vidalia Onion Tart with Red Pepper Coulis (delicious!) and Stuffed Chicken Breakfast with Brie and Prosciutto. Nicholas got the cheesiest macaroni and cheese I’ve ever seen.
Time for the Weekend Dog Blogging round-up. Since I’m away, Alicat from Something So Clever graciously hosted the round-up for me, so be sure to check out her site for all the cute pics.
Until tomorrow…

I love his expression in this picture; a little swim before dinner.
The Girlfriend Lending Moral Support at the Doctor (sorry for the fuzziness, but too cute not to post; just hoping it prints ok when we get home)

I’m normally a lurker but the offer of a cookbook was too much to pass up. Sounds like Key West to me! Enjoy your trip – lucky you to be out of the winter for a little while.
Elise
Damn, it looks like Elise beat me to the punch, or the Rum Runners. I was going to say Key West too. Have fun
Damn, that was fast! I’m going to have to give harder clues – must’ve been the Rum Runners. ;) Elise, you won – glad it brought you out of lurkdom; that was worth it. :) We’re in Key West today. Tomorrow… someplace new. I’ll be back tonight with clues tonight.
I’m looking for some rum, too…hope you have a great time!
Have fun!
