First and foremost, a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to The Brother-In-Law, Nicholas’ Uncle Tim. That’s him in the picture, as a wee lad with his Dad way back when … when something as simple as sharing a box of Kelloggs cereal brought glee. Happy, Happy Birthday from all of us!
I had the day off today (yay!), but The Husband had to work (poor thing…). Nicholas’ school was closed today, though, so it wasn’t like a day filled with peace and quiet. ;) We did a few last minute Easter errands together this morning and then puttered around the house.
Nicholas and The Girlfriend had their usual Friday Night Date Night, this time it was at our house tonight. To keep dinner simple, and because it’s “no meat Friday,” I made Portobello Stuffed Raviolis with Tomato Sauce. Both kids gobbled their portions down, not knowing what they were stuffed with. Getting them to eat mushrooms is quite the feat, so I wasn’t about to tell them what was inside the pasta. One of our errands this morning was a stop at a wholesale bakery, where, in addition to a few things for Easter, I grabbed a few Easter-themed cupcakes for the kids, so they were happy to clean their plates to get to dessert.
Of course, the cupcakes were devoured very quickly, with Eli happily licking up cupcake crumbs from the carpet. The predictable sugar-high then insued with the natural accompanying silliness. I’m not sure the reasoning behind the kids donning the winter hats and gloves, but it looked pretty goofy with their bare feet… they were definitely slap happy by the end of the night.
Alright folks, a short one for tonight. Also including my entry for Eat Stuff’s Weekend Cat Blogging. I caught Callie snoozing underneath the coffee table while the kids were running around the living room like maniacs — I wish I could sleep through noise like she can! And lest we forget the cute canines, send your pics into me to be included in the Weekend Dog Blogging round-up on Sunday. Tune in tomorrow to see what’s cooking. Until then…
A year ago today … it was delicious Strawberry Bread.
Hi. Yes, I’m still alive, thanks for checking up on me. Those photos are cute. I am enjoying my own sugar high, accented by a bit of Bacardi, in the form of a strawberry daiquiri. Happy Hour chez Chef JoAnna!
Oh, those photos are so darn adorable, I can’t stand it!!!! Can’t tell which is sweeter, the cupcakes or Nicholas and the girlfriend? And Callie has that kitty stretch thang going on!
You were definately first! Callie looks relaxed and I want one of those cupcakes!!
Callie looks very relaxed! I love her Easter Gloves, too!
Have a great weekend!
I want one cupcake too! Callie looks like she is so happy to sleep through all the noise.
Love those orange and white socks!
Happy Birthday Tim!!!!!!!
The Neighbors
Joanna – glad to hear you’re still breathing! Was a little concerned after that one post of yours. ;) But Strawberry Daiquiri fixes a lot of things!
Sher – thanks!
CLare – I think it’s the first time I was first in — wow!
Kross-Eyed Kitty – thanks for visiting!
Boo – it’s amazing what Callie can sleep through – wish I had that ability. ;)
Laurie – me too. I actually went looking for an all orange cat, since with all the cats we’ve had over the years, we’ve never had one, but once I saw Callie, that was it…
