Food and Life

Mixed Bag

May 6, 2006 · Narrative

No food report tonight since The Husband worked late and Nicholas had his Friday Night Date Night at The Neighbors. That meant that me and a plate of leftovers had a very happy evening. So, in the meantime, a bit of food-in-the-news:

Rachael Ray has achieved another honor, being named one of Time Magazines’ Top 100 Most Influential People in the World. Quite the coup, she’s among such notables as Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, George Clooney, Bono, George W. Bush, Sean Combs and more. You can read the complete write-up on her here, in the words of her colleague, Mario Batali. Between this honor, her upcoming new talk show deal with Oprah, her magazine and her countless cookbooks, I’m not sure how she can top this one!

In or near New Jersey and need a milkshake fix? New Jersey Monthly recently published their “Best Of…” issue and ranked that the Best Milkshake comes from McCool’s in Madison. Nicholas and I checked it out last week, and you can read the scoop here.

This weekend is the annual Gourmet Food & Cooking Festival and I plan on stopping in. This years’ main celebrity chef is Ted Allen of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame. He’s the “food/cooking guy,” and I love his no-nonsense, streamlined approach to food. At last years’ show, my Mom and I got to meet Paula Deen.

Anyone else watching Top Chef on the Bravo channel? I gotta say, I was really surprised to see Lee Anne go. I liked her quiet, kind personality. You can read a very off-the-cuff interview with her here with juicy details on behind-the-scenes stuff. As professional and talented as Tiffani might be, I don’t particularly care for her attitude and had hoped she would have been the one to go. Next week’s reunion show should be interesting!

OK folks, that’s all for tonight. Tune in tomorrow to see what goodies I discover at the Food Festival and what hits the table. I even have Sunday’s dinner planned already!

A year ago today … the little things.

    Hi,

I was so bummed when Li Anne was booted. I do not like Tiffani. She is so abrasive. Also, she likes a quiet kitchen. I am sorry but I have never been i na restaurant kitchen that was quiet. good luck with that tiffani.

Okay, I am in Australia, have seen Rahael Ray only once, but that hasn’t stopped me from doing a post on her. It’s at http://tankeduptaco.blogspot.com/2006/05/cut-away.html

I was so bummed to see Lee Anne get booted. She was my favorite– foodwise and personality-wise. I can’t stand Tiffani and her arrogant nastiness. Dave? Get it together, man.

And, has there been a single task that Harold didn’t say that he “wasn’t into”?

    I love this site!

Thanks for visiting, Tankeduptaco – I’ll check it out.

Backyard Chef – I was sorry to see her go too. Dave does seem to be a basketcase, doesn’t he?
