For the third installment of this event, I asked food bloggers to let us peek at their tried-and-true recipe files, to see how everyone keeps track. It’s always good inspiration to see what everyone else does to organize their favorite recipes. Here goes.
Pat from Up a Creek Without a PatL starts us off with her ultra-organized binder – I’m impressed!
Claire from Cooking is Medicine uses a box from her Mom, full of cherished memories:
Sylvie from Soul Fusion Kitchen does it with binders (see site for more pictures):
Erika from Tummy Treasures uses three different ways to organize her recipes, one of them being the popular recipe program Mastercook. Check out her site to see her two other ways.
Doodles from Peanut Butter Etouffe was fond of the binder method too, until Sylvie introduced her to del.icio.us, an online way to keep track of your recipes. Looks like we have a convert.
Ulrike from Kuchenlatein is another food blogger turning to her computer for organization, in addition to the favored binder method (see site for more pictures):
And lastly, my own method. I have several drawers in my filing cabinet that are for recipes, both tried-and-true and to-try, all organized in very specific file folders (i.e., trifles, beef, turkey, sandwiches, Emeril, cocktails, etc.). All the tried-and-true recipes are in one file together, uncategorized. It would definitely save me a lot of time looking for a specific recipe, if they were categorized as well, but going through the folder is like a trip down memory lane, conjuring up fond memories of why I made each recipe … and I’d hate to lose that.
Thanks to all who participated in this month’s edition of I’ll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours. This month’s topic is focused on your favorite cooking tool … is it an appliance that you can’t fathom not having, a utensil or tool that you find yourself grabbing again and again … or something completely different? With your next entry, finish this sentence, “I would be lost if it wasn’t for my ______.” Post about it by the end of the month, and send me the permalink. Round-up will be in the first week of September.
All for tonight. Until tomorrow…
A year ago today … The Husband cooks, treats for the dog and more.

How fun to see how different people organize their recipes! I am so NOT organized! The filing cabinet is a great idea, maybe I’ll get around to it one of these days :-)
Yikes Cate, somehow I missed this and I have posted a pretty much identical event… Deary me…
