Happy New Years’ Eve! We had our seafood feast with The Neighbors tonight and I, for one, am quite full. The menu changed many times, as indecisiveness set in, but here’s what we ended up having:
Smoked Salmon Tea Sandwiches
Smoked Salmon Dip
Salt and Pepper Shrimp
Shrimp Cocktail
Garlic Butter Shrimp
Grilled Lobster with Spicy Shallot Butter
Mussels in White Wine Broth
Platter with assorted cheeses, salamis and chorizo
Crab Cakes
Macaroni and Cheese with Octodogs
I think that’s it. There was actually a giant cooked King Crab Leg that we completely forgot to put out, but luckily most of the food is fairly light, so while it may sound like a lot of food, it wasn’t that bad. OK, it was a lot of food, but that’s why it’s called a feast, right? Three of the recipes were new and will definitely be repeated. Deliciousness all around.
For now, it looks like we’re continuing with Weekend Dog Blogging. I’m fine with that, I just wanted to make sure there’s enough interest to keep doing it. I’ll leave you with pictures from tonight’s festivites and then the dogs. Tomorrow, the recipes and the details.
Until tomorrow…
A year ago today … another New Years’ Eve seafood feast.
First up is Ziggy all the way from California’s Soul Fusion Kitchen:
Sophie from You Gonna Eat All That? shows some holiday spirit:
Max from Peanut Butter Etouffe pops in, sporting a nifty handknitted sweater:
Zoe and Rocco from Is It EDible are up next, looking very smart:
Newcomers Tristen and Taylor from Rachel’s Odyssey:
And unfortunately, sad news about Fred from Experimentation of Taste:
And lastly, one more newcomer for this week’s roundup, it’s Jenny from An Open Cupboard:
Please keep Simba from Up a Creek Without a PatL in your thoughts. He suffered a spinal cord injury a little over a week ago, and although he’s doing a little better, it’s going to be a slow road for awhile.
Happy new year, Cate! Looks like a festive way to see in the year….
Happy New Year Cate!
I just had to comment onyour octodogs. My kids just love those! They know it’s a special occasion when the box of mac and cheese comes out with the hot dogs. Kids are so funny!
Thanks, Lydia – Happy New Year to you too!
Erika – Can you believe they even have a contraption you can buy to make them? $17 no less!
Thanks, Cate, for referring folks to Simba. I was considering submitting something for this week, but it just didn’t seem right, so I **really** appreciate that you did it independently. My little guy needs all the good thoughts and especially prayers that folks care to send out for him! I must confess, I’m really struggling with this turn of events, emotionally. It’s hard. So thanks for your support.
