I popped into @chocolatinenj early on Mother’s Day and was rewarded with this deliciousness. Layers of soft flaky croissant dough, tender smoked salmon, light whipped cream, thinly sliced red and green onion slivers and dotted with capers… it was every bit as amazing as you’d imagine it would be. If you’re local, don’t sleep on this one. 😋

The Starbucks Factor

May 24, 2007 · Friends and Family, Miscellaneous

Wednesday nights belong to The Neighbors at Sweetnicks. Tonight, it’s The Neighbor Wife’s turn. Tomorrow? Cuban cooking on the grill. Until then…

I travel around a lot with my job. With all the driving I do, I find you are always on the look-out for your staples … Burger King, McDonalds, and Starbucks. You get the idea. Something that no matter where you are, it tastes the same. What I’ve been noticing a lot lately is Starbucks. Even though it’s corporately owned and operated (I know I was shocked too; you can’t buy a Starbucks franchise), the buildings themselves are very different. I’ve seen Starbucks in strip malls, drive-thru Starbucks, buildings that even look like old gas stations.

Can you tell I have an addiction? I love, love, love the Shaken Ice Tea (sweetened) from Starbucks. I even crave it. so, I’m always looking for a Starbucks when I’m on the road. I’m not a coffee drinker, maybe two a month, but I sure love my Iced Tea.

Do you have a unique Starbucks? What’s your favorite Starbucks menu item?

I don’t drink coffee, but I love the Hot Apple Cider from Starbucks in the fall. With a nice dollop of whipped cream on top, it can’t be beat! In the summer, I go for their iced tea too.

I do not drink coffee either! But I do love their shaken teas as well as my signature drink, iced grande six pump soy chai latte.

I can’t stand most of their drinks because I think they are way too sweet. That said, I do like their passion iced tea unsweetened and their black tea undiluted, unsweetened.

Midwestmaven-I’ll have to try the Hot Apple Cider with whipped cream. Sounds so good.

Lane-Did you make up that drink or is it on the menu?

Alisha-I agree. I only get the ice tea. I’ve tried the passion ice tea that one is good too.

Thanks for your comments. Everyone else, I know there are more readers. Where are all the comments??????

I’m not feeling the love. lol

Not being a coffee drinker, until a few years ago, I never thought there was anything in Starbucks for me, and would patiently wait outside while my mom, sister, husband, et al would get their java fix. And then I discovered Mocha Frappuccinos. It was love at first sip.

that shaken tea has me intrigued. I actually blogged about my first trip to Starbucks — it was on Easter Sunday after church

I was a Starbucks addict, had one every morning. Stopped four years ago because the coffee was killing my stomach. What I miss most is the iced coffee in the summer. My sis got me started on that.

I might look into this tea-thing, but the chai is waaaay too sweet.

Well, the tazo chai latte is on the menu. It is usually offered hot, but can be made cold. And also, you can choose your milk (I’m vegan so soy milk only for me!). The extra pumps are of the chai concentrate. It makes the chai flavor much stronger. I would only recommend the extra pumps if you are really into nutmeg, cinnamon, and other delicious spices. It turns out really spicy, but the milk balances out.

I usually just get plain old coffee when I go, which is not often. I did try an iced coffee and thought it was not very good. My parents like the caramel macchiato.

My current favorite, about once every couple of weeks, is a grande 2 pump nonfat sugarfree cinammon dulce latte. The 2 pumps is about half the normal syrup they put in because with the full amount I feel like I’m drinking pure sugar. Actually, I have a bunch of errands to do in the morning to get ready to go camping, I might need to grab one. :)
