Today we celebrated our one-month anniversary in the new house, and how did we do it? By finally clearing off the table and eating our first meal in the dining room. It felt really weird, to tell you the truth, but it felt pretty darn good too. Of course we haven’t finished painting in the dining room, let alone anywhere else (that blue is going!), and there are still a bunch of boxes on the other end of the dining (and scattered elsewhere throughout the house), but we’re getting there. We’ve done a lot in the last month, but still have a ton to go. No matter, that’s what 30-year mortgages are for, right?
So what feast did we choose to commemorate this auspicious occasion with? I ended up going the comfort food route and made a Roast Chicken, along with potatoes and carrots, supplemented by salad and other goodies.
Tonight’s dinner also featured five new recipes, with all but one ending up a keeper. We discovered some new favorite flavors and revisited a few old ones. More to follow on the new recipes in the coming week. Until then, we’re enjoying the first glimmer of “home.”
Cate, I’m quite amazed you can still be blogging in the middle of moving and painting. It must be a relief to be starting to get settled. I’m *never* going to move again, that’s how much I hate moving!
Congratulations! Moving is such a huge chore, especially with a kid and a household that you’ve lived in for a while. I’ve been in my house for 15 years. I cannot IMAGINE packing it all up for a move! So a tip of the hat to you, Cate, and to think you’ve managed to do some blogging besides. I am TRES impressed!
Oh this looks delicious. I look forward to the recipes.
I sent my DH shopping on Saturday. My list included whole chickens, but he came home with ribs instead.
Good luck on the settling in. I’m sure it must feel like you’re in a stranger’s home at first but soon you’ll know every crook and cranny.
Congrats on 1 month mark! I hope you had lots of chocolate in that celebration dinner.
Hooray your first month! I cleaned off my table this weekend, but there are boxes all over the place. And the stairs, they are killing me LOL!
The Sister In-Law
Kalyn – well, we still have to eat. ;) I hear you on not moving – believe me, after this one, it will be a LONG time before we move again. Next time, it will be out-of-state. As long as we’re in Jersey, I’m not budging from this house – too hard to move. :)
Pat – Wow, 15 years! I couldn’t imagine moving after that long. Ours was only 5-1/2!
Mdvelazquez – typical DH, huh? ;)
Nerissa – I can’t wait for that moment. :)
Jaden – LOL, believe it or not, no chocolate, but definitely other dessert. ;)
The SIL – lots of stairs? Ouch. What’s killing me is now my office is in the basement, so I’m constantly trudging up and down three flights multiple times a day. Good exercise I guess. ;)
