Six months old already?! Where does the time go?
For the past couple of weeks, Madeline has been babbling up a storm … playing with da-da and na-na sounds. I keep trying to tell The Husband, she is NOT saying Dada, although he swears she is.
When she wakes up in the morning or from a nap, she either babbles a bit to herself or makes a sing-song voice. She has such a wonderful disposition, waking up quite happily each time.
Although she’s not crawling quite yet, she gets herself up on all fours, starts rocking back and forth and lunges forward, making a total face plant on the ground. As you can see in the video below, once she’s on all fours, she can also pull herself back into a sitting position. She usually looks around to see who saw her do it and a big grin splashes across her face.
On Friday, my mom stopped by the house and was holding Maddie for awhile. When she went to give her back to me, she set her down, sitting up on the floor, forgetting that Maddie wasn’t quite sitting up on her own yet, since my niece Sophie is. My mom asked how much longer, and I said she was getting close, and I’d say within a few weeks or so. Well, leave Maddie to prove me wrong, because all weekend, she’s been sitting up completely on her own. Up and down. Up and down. Up and down. She is so proud of herself when she sits up, giggling and practicing over and over again. Although it’s a fun new step for her to take, it’s proven to be an interesting chapter in her bedtime routine. Last night, I put her in the bassinet, completely asleep. Minutes later I look over to see her sitting up, playing with her stuffed animal!
When she’s tired, she rubs her ear. If she’s really tired, both ears. With Nicholas, he rubbed his nose.
She has a habit of absentmindedly scratching herself when she is drinking a bottle. Whether it’s on her belly, her thigh or her butt, there she goes.
Maddie is a complete wiggle worm. Every time I lie her down on the changing table to change her, or put her in her car seat, she flips over so she’s on her stomach. She’s certainly giving me a run for my money.
Now that Madeline is six months old, that means my niece Sophie turned 10 months old today. Not walking yet, she can pull herself up to stand, and does it on her tiptoes a lot. It’s only a matter of time before the real fun begins!
Cate, she is the cutest little thing ever! I bet she is so much fun!
SO CUTE! I love her little baby noises. She’s definitely getting there. Learning to use those muscles!
She is so adorable! So loveable!
Happy Six Months, Madeline!
That photo of Sophie is pure joy.
What a week for accomplishments, first Nicholas with no training wheels and now Miss Madeline sitting on her own. Woo Hoo for the Sweetnicks kids!!

Yup – so she’s the cutest little thing. I just want to decorate her in frosting and put her on display for all to see – lol.
