Just a few short months ago, the whole summer laid in front of us, ours for the taking, and now, sadly, it’s over. Did it go by fast, or is it just me? It seems like just yesterday that I was picking Nicholas up from his last day of Kindergarten, and now tomorrow, he starts First Grade! He is excited and looking forward to seeing his classmates again, so excited that he was having trouble falling asleep tonight. Backpack ready to go, summer homework done and a good night’s sleep and it’s all over.
This weekend, along with many other New Jerseyans, we took part in a familiar rite of passage … the trip to the Jersey shore for Labor Day weekend. Madeline enjoyed her first real trip to the beach, getting to stick her toes in the water and fingers in the sand, Nicholas delighted in combing the shores for the perfect shell or beach glass find with my mom, and, of course, the smell of handmade burgers firing up on the grill. A perfect end to summer …
I crack up every time I look at this picture … too funny to see Sophie and Madeline crawling around the floor together.
Susan, I know you’ll appreciate this one.
I’m with you…where in the heck did summer go? It was just June yesterday…wasn’t it?
Hard to believe that we are bidding farewell to summer already. The time surely did fly.
Such adorable kids you have! Sophie is lovely too!
I LOVE that heart rock photo. It’s just perfect. It would make a wonderful greeting card. : )
