I popped into @chocolatinenj early on Mother’s Day and was rewarded with this deliciousness. Layers of soft flaky croissant dough, tender smoked salmon, light whipped cream, thinly sliced red and green onion slivers and dotted with capers… it was every bit as amazing as you’d imagine it would be. If you’re local, don’t sleep on this one. 😋

Miss Madeline – Ten Months Old

December 11, 2008 · Narrative

MadelineTen months?  Ten months?  And Christmas is in two weeks?  Geesh, it’s like a runaway train.

Madeline finally has two more teeth poking through, thank goodness.  She had a few days over the weekend where she would wake up and literally scream bloody murder for 30 minutes or so, and nothing would calm her down.  I’m hoping now that we can see the tips of these new ones coming through that she’ll get a little bit of relief, poor thing.

She is becoming more and more interactive every day.  Recently she was playing peek-a-boo with The Neighbor Husband, jockeying from left to right to keep her eyes on him, and she loves covering her face with whatever is handy and revealing herself when we say, “Where’s the baby?”

She has started her drunken sailor walk and can now walk without assistance from one end of the room to the other.  Since she’s still a smidge unsteady while she’s doing it, I’m not going to say that she’s “officially” walking, which makes Nicholas very happy so that we can say he walked first.  Phew!

Mandarin oranges.  The girl is c-r-a-z-y for them.  Still only refuses to eat two things (squash and mashed potatoes), but in the past month has gone on to discover fruit-filled granola bars (loves them!).  I’m trying to remember if we introduced her to any other new foods – I don’t think so.  She loves plain buttered noodles as much as Nicholas does, but also loves this Ragu Bolognese sauce, happily scoffing up all the pieces of meat.

Now when you go to dress her or put her coat on, she offers one arm at a time to help out – love that.  And the same thing with her pants, pulling her leg up and out when they’re coming off.  Cracks me up when she does that, not sure why, but I think it’s adorable.

She waves bye-bye whenever she leaves the room.

The love-fest between her and Nick is still fast and furious.  Her face lights up as soon as she sees him and he makes her laugh so hard that she’s practically bursting.  He will do anything for her, and is incredibly protective of her.  Love that.  She’s a very lucky girl, that Madeline.

sophie.jpgToday my adorable niece turns 14 months old… she is now walking like a champ and although it’s been 2 weeks since I’ve seen her, I’d bet she’s onto running already as well.  She is starting to make herself heard and doing that lovely baby babble that only her parents understand and can translate.

I don’t think there’s much that is going to stop these girls.

I have to agree, helping with arms and legs when you are dressing the lil ones is adorable. I love when Paige offers me a foot to put her shoes on.

Hard to believe Madeline is 10 months already. She and Sophie are growing so fast!
