- I like ketchup with my eggs. Not all the time, but most of the time.
- Michael Buble songs usually make me cry. But that doesn’t stop me from listening to him.
- Nick makes his First Communion this Saturday. Finding a suit for a 7-1/2 year old that was not pinstripes or black (too adult for my taste) was harder than it sounds.
- Madeline had her dress weeks ago.
- I’m not terribly good at accepting compliments. Got a few this weekend and I could hear a friend in the back of my mind saying “just say thank you.”
- Up until last April, I wore a cross necklace around my neck that The Ex gave me for Easter before we got married. It had been around my neck nearly exclusively for 12 years. After we separated last Spring, I switched to something new. A silver necklace with four small silver circle medallions. Two have each of the kids’ names on them, and two have their birthdates. It also has two small birthstone charms, one for each of them.
- I finally finished painting the master bedroom last weekend (pictures coming soon). I could not possibly love it more. It’s amazing the change a twenty dollar can of paint can make.
- I have two really good friends that love in California. I am terrible at calling them. The time difference totally screws me up.
- I convinced The Neighbor Wife to come to the Zumba fundraiser with me this past weekend. She sent out an email to her husband and I on Friday that started “Just in case I die…” She survived. And got bitten by the Zumba bug. Yay – another convert!
- I now weigh less than when I got pregnant with Nicholas. Double yay!

I am really glad that Target understands that sometimes our silverware drawer might be lacking in a certain utensil, and we don’t necessarily need a whole new set. I have no idea what happens to our small spoons, but Target? They totally understand. They’re there for me.
Congrats on the weight loss. No easy feat with your ability to cook and bake! And, I’m glad you made a change with the necklace. New beginnings……new things…..it’s all going to be great.
Wooo for weighing less! Congratulations. I love sending cards to my friends in far away places, then I’m not worried about the time difference and who doesn’t love fun mail?
I never knew that I loved Michael Buble until I heard his new song. Now I can’t get it out of his head.
Congrats on the weight loss! I love that you have done this while still baking up a storm and eating normal food. Such a good example for the world.
And….congrats to Nick on Sunday! Big step!
Awesome job on the weight loss!
I tried my fisrt Zumba class on Monday and while I loved it, I was not good at it at all! As an experiences Zumba-er (?) would you suggest I stick to it….I am terribly uncoordinated…will it get easier the more I do it?
Thanks and love your blog…have been reading for years :)
Christy
Christy – glad you loved it – it’s totally addicting! Yes, I would still stick with it. The main teacher that I go to always tells new students that it takes 3-4 classes before things start “clicking” and, believe me, I’m as uncoordinated as they come. They suggest concentrating on the foot movements first and once you’re comfortable there, then add your torso and arm movements. And if I really can’t get a move, I march in place until I can pick up again. When I have a move down pat, then I concentrate on adding more intensity … deeper bends, stronger arm punches, etc. Hope that helps!
Thanks, Joanne! It definitely feels awesome. :) This morning Nick asked me, “what’s the big deal about communion anyway?” really glad the daily religion class and Catholic school education has not been lost on him!
Mandy – I totally agree! I do manage fun mail, just feel bad that I can’t get my act together on the phone. We keep missing each other. Thank God for random facebook encounters. ;)
Casey – thank you!!
Yea! good for you on losing weight.
I eat ketchup on my egg sandwiches.
I bet shopping for kids (and with kids) is hard……… :}
I don’t wear jewelry given to me by ex’s.
Zumba sounds fun
I don’t take compliments well either
last, I’m probably a lot worse than you about keeping in touch with friends
how funny about the spoons …. I had to buy large forks not long ago!
Hi! I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time now. I really enjoy your writing, your photos and you have adorable kids.
Congrats to Nick & congrats on the weight loss. I would love to see a picture of your new necklace, sounds cute & sweet =)
Target has everything, don’t they?! Congrats on the weight loss!! I’m working on it, too. I would love to try Zumba, that’s for sure! Keep it up.
