Alright guys, you’ll have to forgive a short post tonight. I’m working on about three hours of sleep from last night, and we just got back from four hours at the town carnival. As soon as I hit publish, I’m collapsing in bed with last night’s taping of So You Think You Can Dance.
Madeline, you can tell, is right there with me. Well, from her room anyway. This was her, at the carnival tonight, falling asleep at my feet as we watched Nick and his friend do umpteen rounds on the rides. The picture is a little fuzzier than I’d like (darn kid was wiggling), but I love how the carnival lighting streams over her body. Poor thing was exhausted, and just watching her brother have all the fun. I promised her that tomorrow is her turn.
This year, I’ve getting downsized at work. Next week, I’m down to three days a week at my not-full-time-anymore job. What does this mean? It means I start focusing on picking up more and more freelancing contracts to make up the difference. Luckily very soon after the first cut in my hours, I picked up a contract with the folks at Disney. Disney! I write a weekly column on their Amazing Moms website, and if you go and just search for my name (search results here), you can see most of the articles I’ve written for them so far. They are pieces that haven’t appeared here, and focus mostly on crafts and food ideas, so if you’re looking for a fun summer activity to do with your kids, that’s a great place to start.
Now man (and the O’Malley family) cannot live on the Disney contract alone, so if you happen to have or hear of any freelancing writing or editing opportunities, do keep me in mind. I mainly concentrate on the topics of food, parenting, crafts, and business. I do so appreciate you keeping me in mind. xoxo

Not sure if you’ve heard of it, but Elance is a good way to go for freelance writing. A friend of mine has worked on various projects through there and really enjoys it!
I think I would be exhausted after a day at the carnival so I can only imagine how tired you and the kids were!
I will keep an ear out for you! Congrats on the Disney gig.
Hopefully some opportunities will come up soon.
Haven’t been to a carnival in ages.
