When my divorce proceedings were winding down, a few friends and I started planning a weekend away. Not to celebrate the divorce, but rather to celebrate new beginnings. The plan was hatched a few months ago, and this weekend, it finally became reality. Three friends and I embarked on a road trip to Connecticut, hitting Old Groton, Uncasville and Mystic. It was an awesome weekend, and we all came back recharged, refreshed, and with plans already to make this a new tradition every three months (we negotiated between quarterly and biannually ;)).
I think I took about 150 picture from this weekend, so you can imagine what a tough time I had culling it to a manageable amount so as not to chase my readers away. Below are a few highlights. Tomorrow, a restaurant review that was an impromptu stop and the best snack e.v.e.r.
Clouds seriously fascinate me, and when they’re looking especially cool, the kids and I will jump in the car and take some pictures of the formations. When I saw these cotton puff clouds in Connecticut this weekend, we had to take a snap for Nick.
We were trying to figure out what the first flavor is. The second one is strawberry, but the first?
Perhaps BOTM stands for Blizzard of the Month?
Cate you look fabulous!!

What a great idea! Weekends with the girls are always fun. My friends and I took a road trip up to Boston a few weekends ago for a friend’s wedding and had a blast. I think it needs to be repeated.
Cupcake Vintage wine? Was it tasty?
Great pictures. I hope you didn’t have to take out a loan to buy those oysters.
When we were in New Orleans about a month ago, they wanted $12 a dozen for them then………
Jill – ahhh, yes, that must be it – good call!
SIL – thank you!
Joanne – love, love, love Boston. Haven’t been there in ages. Must get that back to rotation. I didn’t have the wine, but the others were big fans.
Ramona – haha, you ain’t kidding. Definitely not as cheap as they used to be!
great weekend… can’t wait for the next one.
Cate –
Just wanted to let you know that I stumbled onto your blog when you had posted the end of the year rainbow cake… it was a lifesaver! My daughter turned 3 yesterday and this cake was a winner! Thanks so much!! :-)
Looks like a lot of fun! I love, love, love Mystic. It’s on my list for trips this summer with the kids.
Ah, what a gorgeous and restful weekend! As always, your photos are wounderful. Glad you were able to get away for some relaxing times.
The July “BOTM” is my favorite of all time: strawberry golden Oreo! Oh boy. Had one on vacation in North Carolina recently and never wanted it to end!
Love those shoes!
