When Madeline and I made the “I”-themed cupcakes last week, I saved three for us, sending the rest of them to school and to the office. Knowing how she is, I made sure to put them up well out of her reach in the kitchen (on top of a pretzel container on top of the refrigerator), and when she wasn’t looking, so she wouldn’t see them.
Friday afternoon…
“Mommy, help! Help!”
This is what I walked into.
Apparently the cupcakes had been spotted. On top of a pretzel container, which was on top of the refrigerator.
She managed to get her little body onto the counter, but couldn’t figure out how to get on top of the refrigerator, thank God. I’m surprised she wasn’t standing on the counter. I’m sure that will be next week’s trick.
I told her she shouldn’t smile in the face of such naughtiness.
Little stinker.

My parents dog, Beauregard, was here not five minutes when he tore a claw nearly clean off his paw, leaving a trail of blood in his path. That was after he fell a few feet in the backyard, onto Madeline’s wooden chair. It’s no wonder he left the racetrack years ago. Clumsiest dog I know, but quite the trooper as his paw got bandaged up. Again.
Once a kid learns to climb there is NO BOUNDARY to what they can do. We’ve had parents tell us that their 15 month old had climbed to the top of the refrigerator. Amazing things!
Love the dog’s name. Is he Cajun?
Is that your inspiration on the fridge? Great idea!
That girl has cupcake radar, I swear. She could spot a cupcake from five miles away.
Looks like you need to install a lock on one of your cabinets…
Poor pooch.
Casey – Beauregard was a general in one of the wars (don’t ask me which one!). And yes, total motivation picture – Fergie!
Ramona – you ain’t kidding!
Joanne – ha, totally.
Claire – I absolutely believe it.
