All day long I thought today was the 10th. I feel like I lost a whole day and need a do-over.
I am a very late adopter to the sweet potato fry craze. Sarah has been raving about them for years, after all, but apparently I’ve been turning a deaf ear. For some reason, they just never intrigued me. Until now. I made a batch of them last week, and then last night. When I made them last week, I served them alongside burgers. Nick mentioned something about them not being “regular” fries and pushed them to the side. The Ex happened to be here and said something about me trying to be sneaky and fool them into thinking they were regular fries. If I was, I was clearly unsuccessful, because none of them ate them. (Editing to add: Nick ate ONE of the sweet potato fries last night – hurrah!) No matter. I polished them off myself over the next few days because I happen to love them. And better still, my old personal trainer would wholeheartedly endorse them, which is a good thing. I’d much rather eat without the guilt.
So it’s Thursday night, which means I’m outta here until Sunday. This weekend brings a date with one of my favorite peeps Saturday night, and a day trip with the kids and friends on Sunday. ‘Tis another weekend full of friends, family and fun – hope yours is just as fabulous!

Two new additions to my Christmas kitchen tree, courtesy of my Mom and her “advent calendar” – love these!
She never wants to leave school when I pick her up. I’m pretty sure that’s a good thing and I shouldn’t take it personally.
H is for Hedgehog. I don’t think an H week is complete without a hedgehog crown, do you?
So this time, I remembered to take a picture of my Creme Brulee Frappuccino before I drank it … sooo good. New seasonal flavor brought to you by the fine folks at Starbucks; get it before it’s gone!
To keep her away from my Frappuccino, I always ask for a little taster cup of whipped cream (free!).
And since it’s Thursday, time for Embrace the Camera. Only took six attempts to get us both in the shot. Have YOU embraced YOUR camera (with your kid) today?
Sweet Potato Fries
Recipe courtesy of Cate O’Malley
Three sweet potatoes
Extra virgin olive oil
seasoning of your choice (I used kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, paprika, garlic powder and brown sugar)
Preheat oven to 450F. Scrub sweet potatoes (I don’t peel) and cut off a little from both ends. Cut the sweet potatoes in half lengthwise, and then again, and again and again until you have nice matchstick size fries. Lay on baking sheet and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle seasonings over the fries and, using your hands, mix thoroughly so oil and seasonings are evenly distributed on fries. Spread the fries in a single layer and bake for approximately 25 minutes.
I’ve had two Caramel brulee lattes this week (not very good on WW, but they are not around forever and I hardly ever drink Starbucks). Now I will have to try the frappucino. Denville didn’t have the caramel candy topper – madison starbucks did.
I have to hit the Tar-Jay tomorrow so maybe I will stop at the Starbucks there and get another fix.
Cutie ornaments! I have a little tree that sits on my kitchen counter – maybe I should start switching over my ornaments after seeing your tree.
Love the picture of her under the table!
You do get a do-over… on the 10th!!! ;-) I love sweet potato fries! I can’t handle baked sweet potato, but roasted and fried they are so yummy. Keep on trying with those kiddos… they’ll eventually catch on!
Sweet potato fries are a SERIOUS favorite of mine. They beat regular fries every time. In fact…I haven’t made them in far too long. Time to get on that.
Now that you’ve converted, you need to try my Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries. And the Parmesan Rosemary ones. Oooh. And the Barbecue ones … best things ever.
OMGoodness!!! I tried the Creme Brulee coffee, but NOT the Frap. Guess what I have to try today. Love that you busted out the camera in Target.
Love your cute photo! :)
I just had to comment on the adorable picture of your daughter under the table at school! Too funny! We have all been there with our kids :)! I think the Starbucks stop made up for it! I’m so going there tomorrow to get the Creme Brulee coffee! Yum!
P.S. Thanks for leaving such a sweet comment on my blog :)
Sweet potato fries ROCK! I love em!
You photos are always adorable.
Great post…the school pic had me laughing out loud!
Cute ornaments!
