I have had food poisoning exactly three times in my life. Once, when I was pregnant with Nick. Wanting to do something romantic for Valentine’s Day, but in the throes of pregnancy and not wanting to cook, I ordered a special meal from a local restaurant. And paid dearly for it for the next four days. Couldn’t even keep down water, and the OBGYN wouldn’t let me take anything. The second time was the November after The Ex and I separated. I all but begged Jamie, the kids’ old babysitter to please come and feed them because I couldn’t bring myself to even look at food, let alone get dinner ready. And the third? This weekend. It was either from lunch or dinner Saturday. The fact that I can remember precise details of prior food poisoning incidents tells you how bad it is. And it hasn’t gotten any more fun. And with Mystic’s birthday yesterday, and his daughter’s today, it was all I could do to get through making a special dinner and dessert for them. Even though I didn’t partake in the eating of it. I couldn’t even bring myself to sample the sauce.
Nick doesn’t like this Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino, which means I get it more often than not because then I don’t have to share.
We first saw the previews to this movie back in the Spring, and Madeline said she wanted to see it. And then the previews started showing up on tv. And then the sign went up outside the movie theater. All the while, Madeline reminding me that she wanted to see it. And we finally did, last week. Great movie. Kid- and adult-friendly, based on a true story. And, of course, the previews before *this* movie showed another new movie coming out starring Drew Barrymore featuring a whales-need-help story, which is now also on Madeline’s radar.
Goodness…I hope you’re feeling better soon! Don’t know if I’ve ever had food poisoning but have definitely had the stomach bug…working exactly one hour after for 12 hours, that was NOT fun! I’m impressed that you were able to make food. Those candles are quite fun!
Hope you are feeling better!
Food poisoning is the WORST. The last time I was food poisoned was in college and it lasted days…bad stuff. Hope you’re feeling better!
You’re quite the trooper for forging ahead and cooking for Mystic and his daughter nonetheless. I’m sure they appreciated it :)
I feel your pain, Cate. I got food poisoning from some tainted pastrami at a sub sandwich shop years ago. I hadn’t been dating my future husband for very long at the time. When I told him how sick I was he drove 35 miles to my house and stayed with me, sitting on the floor next to my bed, until the next morning to make sure I’d be O.K. What a sweetheart. He saw me at my very worst early on and stuck around anyway. How could I NOT marry a guy like that? It was the best decision I ever made!
