Two soccer games (Madeline’s team won, Nick’s lost), child IDs taken, free hot dogs and face painting, apple picking, pony rides, sunflower maze going (more on that later this week), retro diner eating, and lots of horse petting. I don’t think we could have crammed more into this weekend if we tried, and given Madeline slept 16 hours last night, the fresh air and sunshine did everyone good. And my sunburned face and chest will attest to that.
Last year, when we went apple picking at this farm, they had pony rides. I didn’t have cash with me (just my debit card), and told Madeline “no, not this time.” She remembered when we were there yesterday, and now all is right with her world.
When I promised Madeline we could stop at the horse farm, she was in seventh heaven.
Alfred Hitchcock anyone?
On our way home this afternoon, two of the four kids were done.
Sunflowers are gorgeous! Worth the trip?
I think we may have identical sunburns… ouch!
Thanks for the suggestion of Sun High – we have 15lbs of apples now :-)
The sunburn is so red from yesterday, likely from sitting down for 2.5 hours of soccer games! Isn’t Sun High awesome! Applesauce and glazed apple bars on the list for this week. I think the sunflowers were definitely worth the trip (Chatterbox and the horses are down the street too, so makes for a good afternoon), but today was the last day, so you’ll have to wait ’till next year. :(
Looks like you had a fabulous fall weekend. It felt like autumn here in Ohio as well. I took full advantage of it with lots of sitting outside, baking with pumpkin and apple. I’m glad that you and your crew had so much fun at the orchard and visiting the horses. Love the last picture!
