When Madeline first asked to play this game, I said no. Tons of super tiny stuffed animals lined the top of the canopy, but she had her heart set on this giant dolphin. I assumed you could only get that by trading up, but it turned out, you could choose anything you wanted on the first game. So while she ate her ice cream, her brother won her the dolphin. To say she was thrilled would be an understatement.

Yes ma’am! Saturday was the last night, and we went to see the balloons launch. And, you know, win dolphins.
I’ve noticed the adopt-a-dog theme for some time but must have missed when you first introduced it… do you adopt a new dog very few weeks, or do you just “borrow” one from the shelter every now and then? What a great idea!! I bet my brother would love something like this (if it is indeed what I’m thinking it is…) he’s wanted a dog for-EVER but feels his lifestyle at the moment is not conducive to having one full-time….
We volunteer at a local animal shelter, and do a variety of things. Everything from helping with animal transport and taking dogs to events for potential adoptions, to helping fundraise, and market their adoptable dogs. Sometimes, which is what we did this weekend, we go and take a dog out for a few hours, to give them a break from the kennel. It can get so noisy and chaotic in there, even a one hour hike does wonders for them (and us!). Most shelters welcome this type of volunteering, with a little bit of training, application/paperwork, and ours is always looking for more hands to help walk the dogs and socialize them. Every little bit helps. The kids can’t help with all aspects of what we do, but I include them every chance I can. Definitely call up your local shelter and see how you can help!
Oooh, hot air balloons! I’m obsessed. Looks like a fab weekend, as always, and you really can’t beat the weather lately. Hardly feels like summer here in Maryland/Virginia . . . the skies are so blue today, it’s more like autumn. And no humidity. YES!
