Annual check up and a round of shots because he’s now 11. And conversations during the day that had me defining puberty, paparazzi, and STDs. Um, thanks to Disney and the doc.
Took Merry on a two mile hike on Saturday morning – the weather was too gorgeous (albeit a little steamy) not to be outside.
A hike that likely took longer than it should have because this character had to stop and roll around in something a few times along the way.
Love these hair ties. From Anthropologie by way of my sister.
Every time I see this trail, it reminds me of that Robert Frost poem. Crossroads, I have a few.
On Sunday it was Rosie’s turn for the hike, and this time, about three miles, and half of it uphill. She was the perfect partner because she pretty much pulled me all the way up the hill and then pulled me all the way back down.
At the top of one of the peaks, we spotted this memorial to a firefighter who lost his life on 9/11. I’m guessing it was there because on a good day, you can see the city from where we were. Kind of.
Haven’t had a good sunset picture in awhile.
There. Now that’s taken care of.
Think all the hiking this weekend wore them out? Good.
Her expressions were cracking me up. We haven’t ever celebrated a half birthday before, but we did tonight. She has been very excited to finally reach five and a half. I think mostly because she is really looking forward to starting kindergarten and learning how to read. It’s been a near daily topic. So tonight we celebrated a mini milestone.
This week? At least two new recipes, July Instagram in review, a product review, and hopefully a book review.
Looks like a pretty awesome weekend!

Perfect amount of balance – my favorite kind of weekend.
You always take the prettiest pictures. Those with all the green made me miss Kansas. Beautiful.
Thank you! We have had some pretty serious rain, especially in the beginning of the summer, and besides a flooded basement, vibrant greenery is a nice side effect.
Whatever is in that first picture, I need! Also, love Madeline’s pink sparkle shoes — where’d ya find those?

That burger was SO good. Next time you’re in my neighborhood, I’ll take you there. She loves those pink glitter shoes, and wears them a lot. They can be found right here, and in many other colors too.
